The ascendant is aspected by the malefics saturn, mars and rahu by rasi drishti. mars is strong in the 6th, saturn rules the 8th and 9th and is debilitated in the 11th. rahu rules the 9th. Co-lord of 6th, ketu aspects saturn. At 5 years saturn and ketu were in transit over the ascendant and sade-sati was also in progress. There appears to be reason to consider serious health issues with danger to life a possibility. However, ascendant ruler is strongly placed in a kendra with benefic jupiter and unaspected by any malefic. The moon is also strong though in the 12th, and aspected by Jupiter, giving some resistance to childhood illnesses. Also lord of AL is strong and AK mars is strong. In D-6 mars is in the 8th and aspects rahu in the 2nd. This again suggests that serious illness is a possibility. When Mars-Jupiter starts, Jupiter is debilitated in transit in the 8th. Again 8th house issues seem to be involved. This may have involved trouble with the legs(11th house) or head (aries). Because of the involvement of Rahu, any problem may be hard to diagnose. Rahu dasa, being placed in own sign in the 9th, and indicating foreigners, may bring travel, possibly related to education. This would be in the second half of Rahu dasa usually. He would be around 19 years of age. In 1988 Rahu transits back in the natal position in Aquarius. As this rahu also aspects the sun, this could bring separation from the father. But the beginning of Rahu dasa may have brought trouble to the father as both the sun and saturn are transitting over natal sun at this time, both enemies to the sun. There may be a VRY in the chart as the sun ruling 3 and ketu co-ruling 6 are joined together in the 3rd. However as the sun is strong though afflicted, this is not likely to be very effective. Mars strongly placed in the 3rd from AL is a strong VRY and may have produced significant material improvement. Mars aspecting ascendant and ruling GL and 7th from HL becomes a yogada. Mars-Rahu appears to be the time when this is most active since rahu also aspects GL, HL and Ascendant. Therefore there may have simultaneously been very good material results in the 5th year.
