Guest guest
Dear Narasimha and the others, While we're on this, may I add that in some regions of the earth, the Sun doesn't rise at all in the manner we know. The lagna goes completely wacko in those places, with some signs not rising at all, some others being discontinuous, stationary, retrograde and what-have-you (can send a chart of this to anyone who wants)! Fortunately, less than 1% of the world's populace lives in those regions ) Narasimha, any thoughts on why topocentric settings are a no-no? Respects, Ramapriya ayirpamar On 7/18/05, Narasimha P.V.R. Let me add just a couple more words: When we say that Sun's upper tip is exactly on the eastern horizon, we are not talking about it appearing to be there, but really being there. Light rays bend due to refraction in atmosphere (which depends on atmospheric conditions). So Sun's upper tip becomes visible (appears as though it was on the eastern horizon), while it is still a little below the horizon in reality. All the " true " calculations are easier. But " apparent " calculations require assumptions about atmospheric conditions. May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha
Guest guest
Dear Narasimha, Thank you for reminding me of this fact and for the further clarification. This is interesting. I can see how calculations of the Sun's visibility would be much more complex than " true " calculations, especially in this context where even a few seconds makes a difference. Thanks for your clarifications and for the astronomy lesson. BTW, I downloaded and installed JH 7.03 and it seems to be running just fine. Guest guest
Dear Jai and Ramesh, The link for JH 7.03 is: http://www.VedicAstrologer.org/tmp/jh703.zip Download it into your JH 7.02 bin folder. When you unzip the file, it will automatically install and overwrite the JHora.exe file in 7.02. If you want to save the previous JH 7.02, back it up separately before downloading 7.03. Guest guest
<< Is there a way to check if I did it right? >> Dear Ramesh, Yes. When you open Jagannatha Hora, it should say Version 7.03. If you miss it on the start up screen, go under the Help menu and click on " About Jagannatha Hora " . In the upper left it should say " Version 7.03 " .
