Guest guest
Namaste Sanjay and others, My earlier point was whether Varahamihira's quote from "Brihat Samhita" was applicable to Hora Shastram. While his "Brihajjatakam" deals with natal horoscopy, he was mostly concerned with mundane astrology, visible signs, omens etc in "Brihat Samhita". He talked a lot about visible signs and omens in the skies and their indications and hence there may have been some focus on the appearance of Sun. But, I think there is a bigger concern here. It is not clear to me whether Varahamihira actually defined sunrise the way he is said to have defined. I think that needs a fresh look. What is the number of the verse in "Brihat Samhita" in which you think Varahamihira defined sunrise based on the apparent rise of upper limb? Please give me the verse number and we can discuss the verse, its context, its meaning, its implications and its applicability to Hora Shastram. Please don't kill this thread now - we are on the verge of something and we need to resolve this. May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha PS: I hope it is not 3.12. -------------------------------Free Jyotish lessons (MP3): http://vedicastro.home.comcast.netFree Jyotish software (Windows): http://www.VedicAstrologer.org Sri Jagannath Centre (SJC) website: http://www.SriJagannath.org-------------------------------
