Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Dear Sanjay ji and Narasimha, The following verse is an extract from Narada Purana, Chapter 56 saMdhyA trinADI pramitArkabiMborddhodayAstataH|56.265a prAkpashcAdyAmyasaumye cetpuNyaM pUrvAMpare 'hani||56.265b Is this conclusive enough that dawn (saMdhya) extends through 3 nadikas before the rising of the centre of the Sun's disk means Sunrise is calculated from the centre of the Sun's disk. ..........holding my breath :-) Love, Swee
Guest guest
JAI SRIRAM Dear Swee, I am unable to find the sunrise definition you mentioned in this message from your compilation of Narada Puräëa II.55 under the headings of Saàhitä-Skandha----Delineation of Horoscopy. Guest guest
Dear Swee, > Is this conclusive enough that dawn (saMdhya) extends through 3 nadikas > before the rising of the centre of the Sun's disk means Sunrise is > calculated from the centre of the Sun's disk. Thank you for the quote. You would expect sandhya to be defined with respect to the Sunrise and not with respect to an event that occurs a little after sunrise. Thus, this is *suggestive* of Sunrise being defined based on the center of Sun. However, there is some inference/deduction involved and I must admit that it is not conclusive. BTW, if I am not mistaken, a similar quote exists in BPHS too. I hope memory is not fooling me. However, if Sanjay ji or somebody else has a conclusive definition of Sunrise from Varahamihira, we may have to consider that ahead of the verse you gave now. When I searched in " Brihat Samhita " , I could not find such a verse. But, because Sanjay ji thinks that there is such a verse, let us give him some time to dig in and find the verse. We can analyze it then. He is busy with all the SJC events now. May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha PS: If you want me to reply to any mail on this list, please cc it to me. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Lakshmi, Hare Krishna I shall do so as soon as I find time. Would you like it in Sanskrit/transliteration with the English translations? I am in the midst of putting a mini article for you with regards to Rahu and Ketu from Srimad Bhagavtam........well, at least that's my view ;-) If Sanjay ji gives the thumbs up, it may go for the JD. Hope you are well.
