Dear Gurujans & friends

I have a query related to stength of planet:

In one of the article on strength of planet I have read the following:

" House position is more important than sign position. For example. it

is better if jupiter is debilitated in a good house, like the ninth,

than exalted in a bad house, like the eighth. "

Does it mean that while analysing Diginity of planets should be given

less weightage than Directional strength (i.e position of the house).

Is it applicable while analysing any planet wrt Ascendent, Moon sign,

Sun sign in Rasi chart.

What is the logic behind it?

Regards

Dear Shree Narayan,

Namaste

If Jupiter is debilitated in the 9th, it shows the quality of your Guru.

For a female chart, possbily of her husband and children. It is not in

marana in the 8th (sthana bala). Exaltation there would mean an innate

knowledge of the occult. All these can be verified or fortified from the

navamsa.

Dik Bala - Directional strength. This would be good in ascertaining in

which part of the world you are best suited to.

Dear Swee,

Pardon my ignorance, but I take it that marana is to be deemed in

light of sthanabala, right? Paradigm shift that, because I'd presumed

marana a somewhat dire digbala kind of thing since it's vis-a-vis the

lagna while sthanabala derived itself vis-a-vis the natural

horoscope... the cretin learns all the while, and thanks for this.

Dear Rama,

Namaste

Dik - means direction. Sthana means the House. Very different, yes?

Dear Ramapriya,

Namaste

I should really add: Suppose for a Makara lagna, Jupiter is in the 3rd

(sthana), it is at home, so you will not expect him to suffer much there

especially where relationships and friends are concerned. The aspect on the

7th house is his exaltation sign; who knows combined with Mars (friends 2nd

from it and lord of 11th), Sun (friends; 8th Lord) and Mercury (neutral; his

analytical faculty), he might just make it to be a multi tasking

psychoanalyst ;-)

Dear Swee,

I don't remember to have heard anything about how grahas would be in

7th from their marana sthanas. Is there anything about it?

On an introspection, I've more or less worked out how and why the

positions for marana for the various planets come from. Moon, Venus,

Saturn and Rahu have marana where they debilitate in the natural

horoscope. Mars, Jupiter and Mercury can be explained too. Sun is

the problem - why the 12th and why not 7th? And why not 12th for

Mercury? Still thinking :)

Dear Rama,

Namaste

And the Sun shines forth. He's so lovely in the first house where he

naturally dominates.........how can but his ego take a knock in the

reclusive 12th? Will his heat not cause him to be a pyromaniac in the 12th

;-) ?? that's the dictum; add Mars' house in there or Mars' aspect where

Sun's big ego excels.

And why not in the 7th? Parasara clearly stated, even he (the ego, Sun) can

weaken at the knees (debilitated in 7th) and lose his empire to Eros'

whims.........which is not the purpose of the natural atma. See, He and no

others can shine like he does as they shrivel (retrograde and combust)

whenever and wherever his Ego desires (natural indicator of the ascendant).

But in the end, if he is in a friend's house in the 12th his exploits may

well collect the accolades he simply enjoys.

My Dear Partha,

Namaste

Talking about Sun in the 12th with Mars in Aries? Not

you at all, is it? More like sadhana

on the sly for you ;-)

The one that causes the fire is most likely to be Mars.

2 out of my children love playing with fire. My second son has Aries lagna and

exalted Mars with Sun and Saturn and Rahu in exchange (5th and 11th), no doubt,

a sadistic pyromaniac from age 2.5 and still plays with matches..........he's

just so intrigued with fires ;-) at 26 and also loves dissecting. But try and convince

him that he should make a good surgeon J

In case you are wondering about Mercury, it is highly

combust, with Moon in it…….congenital eczema a few days after birth.
