Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear List, Namaste There are several wrong concepts wrt gemstones. Let’s try and understand that the work of a functional benefic is just that – to do good. If it is weak, strengthen it with a gemstone. That goes for a badhakesh too. Someone wrote and asked me about the natural friendship chart – what is the karakatwa of that particular planet? Delineate it accordingly. Gemstones fall under Moon and THAT is Satva Guna! (Bipin!!!) having gone through (yet again, over 2 years) most of Vishnu Purana, there are two places which reiterates what Garuda Purana says about certain gemstones: Diamond: Prescribe according to the caste of the person. Ruby – The person has to be PURE or else, the gemstone will cause the death of the person. This is very clear from Vishnu Purana. I am yet to come across the statement made in Garuda Purana wrt to purity of the person when it comes to wearing the Blue Sapphire in the other puranas. Now, be very careful when we advise the use of gemstones. Look at the chart and see the nature of the person before you advice the use of these gems (diamond, ruby and sapphire). Someone also said that during a certain period of time, a list of gemstones were recommended. That is not a problem. You can see that the person is suited to wearing those gemstones. In ascertaining the life gemstone of the person, we need to work out the Yogi planet and the Graha samaya. Whereas in working out the gemstone as the flavour of the mahadasa lord’s relationship and the bhukti lord – for that, work out the graha samaya. The mahadasa lord gives the general indications whereas the bhukti lord gives the actual results. Say for a badhakesh Jupiter and both these benefics are working together, during its period, would you recommend the Yellow Sapphire or the Pearl to exalt the badhakesh? Always remember that the Moon has NO ENEMIES. So who better that the Moon can give peace of mind? For a Gemini lagna, someone’s badhakesh maybe placed in the 2nd. The indications for the 2nd are the following: family life and savings. Even if the badhakesh is placed there, we must no ignore the fact that Jupiter spoils the indications of the house where it is placed. This statement is confirmed in Jyotisharnava Navanitam (besides other classics). The Moon’s movement is 2.5 days through a sign, hence it is also the fastest to give results. For that, why should a Pearl that is man made be acceptable? Not at all. If all indications are that the gemstones are to be natural, so should the Pearl, right? One last point which I’ve also mentioned at the talk in Delhi: I am yet to come across the wearing of a gemstone on the fingers – even in any of the classics. I would appreciate it if any of you have come across this. It would greatly help my work. If the whole purpose of wearing a gemstone is to act as a kavacha, where would you wear it?
