Namaste Guru ji and other learned members,

Please look at the second paragraph below and comment on the logic, I failed to come up with one...how can we wear blue sapphire to "ward off" moon ,and pearl to "ward off" effects of Jupiter.....

Translation 79: Ill Stars and how to propitiate them by bestowal (dana)of gems: When the Sun is hostile (donate) a pure ruby; when the Moon, a goodpearl; when Mangala, a good coral; when Budha, a good emerald; whenBrihaspati, a good yellow sapphire; when Shukra, the diamond; whenShani, a good blue sapphire; when Rahu, the gomeda; and when Ketu, agood cat's eye, should be donatedTranslation 80-81: Ill Stars and how to ward them off by wearing(dharan) of gems:If the Sun is adverse, (wear) the cat's eye; if the Moon, the bluesapphire; if Mangala, the ruby; if Budha, the ruby too; if Vrihaspati, the pearl; if Shukra, the diamond; if Shani, the great blue sapphire;if Rahu, the gomeda, and if Ketu, the emerald, should be worn.

Namaste Guru ji,

You know if we are able to find some link or logic between gems and nakshatras, that will be nothing short of "revolution" within Jyotish gemology. While no one can refute what Padma Purana is saying, in and itself has little relevant meaning besides generalizing such donations. Can't be the case I think.

Have you experimented with colored diamonds? like yellow or pink etc...?

Is there any reference mapping Bala Asura's body into 27 nakshatras? Maybe there is a clue....

Dear Gaurav,

Namaste

Besides the other ones already published, the following will also be in the book.

I have tried to look into the logic where nakshatras are concerned, but have drawn a blank. It is also a bit difficult if only those 3 are extracted out of a book of which we have no knowledge of especially when we have to ascertain in what context the statements are pertaining to. But who can refute what’s written in the Puranas? None.

Dear

Gaurav,

Namaste

I have

recommended pink and yellow diamonds - J

As for

Bala asura’s body, it is not the gems that are formed BUT the parts of

the body “snatched” by the devas, siddhas, yakshas, pisachas and

nagas.

I’ve

recently found a sloka which I can relate to when it comes to the naga - mani. That

is the stone found on the Narmada river. Beautiful

array of colours and they do look like agates, but needs to be confirmed. Would

you be able to get a sample and have it tested? The chief of the nagas worshipped

Bala asura in a famous place. Would you know this place? And he also took Bala

asura’s “talons” and scattered them over various holy

mountains and in rivers flowing in the Northern region and from that was formed

Pulaka. Does the place sound like the Narmada River?

Pulaka can

mean that it is a flaw or defect in the gem caused by a kind of insect or

vermin of a Naga or of Kubera– this can also be the shaligram from the Gandaki River. The colours described in the GP

is that of the stones from the Narmada

River. However, some

gemmy pieces will have transparency of the colour of conch, honey bee and arka.

These that are flawless are conducive to increase in prosperity (the continuation

of descendants can also be considered as such).

I am also

convinced somewhat that it maybe the andularia – the specks formed by

gemmy feldspar in the Moonstone.

Do give me

your thoughts.

Swee
