Guest guest
|| Hare Rama Krishna || Dear Pranav-ji, Namaskar. It is Durga Saptasati (not stuti). Also called Devi Mahatmyam or Chandi Patham. It is a scripture in 13 chapters and a total of 700 mantras, hence the name sapta (7)+sati (100). Divine Mother has been depicted in three aspects, Mahakaali, Mahalakshmi. and Mahasaraswati. It is very popular amongst Devi worshippers and is chanted during Durga Puja (Navaratri) and other such sacred occassions. It is a part of Markandeya Purana. I have a copy of Devi Mahatmyam translated by Swami Jagadishwarananda from R. K. Mission, Chennai. There must be many other publishers/translations available in the market . Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Pranav, Namaste Some of the Durga Saptashati (700) mantras are listed in VRA - Sanjay Rath. Though it is not specifically mentioned. It entails the worship of Shakti - Durga Devi which is considered as the top treatise which yields instant results in kali-yuga. Extracted from the Markandeya Purana - (Parimal Publications publishes this in Sanskrit and English which I will put on my website soon) spread over 13 chapters. According to what I have been taught, it can be used for akarshana etc. and does not necessarily have to be offered during Navaratri days. love, Swee > |om gurave namah | Respected Gurujis, > > I have heard a lot about Durga saprastuti; what is Durga saptastuti? > What is its significance in vedic astrology?
