Dear Sarbani, Visti et al,

Namaste

Can you help with your analysis? A young lady was found dead in her bedroom on 20th Dec 2006. The doctors reckoned that she had been dead for at least 6 hours when they found her body.

During her childhood, she had courted with the idea of suicide when her father left her mother to bring her up alone. However, she decided to keep her maternal surname clinging on to the last hope of “finding maternal solace”. She was on anti depressants shortly before her demise.....Depression is analysed from the 5th whose lord is afflicted by 2 malefics.

The DOB 20th April, 1985 5:20am, London, England.

Lagna is Pisces with ascending degrees in rapt aspect with retrograde 8th lord. The 6th house is afflicted by 3 malefics – Mars, Saturn and Rahu

Was it an overdose or was it a case of suicide? Thanks for your help.

Love,

Swee

Namaste Sri SweeTo my thinking, after studying her chart, it looks to be a case of Suicide. She may have decided to use overdose as a means of suicide. Thanks and RegardsBharat

Dear Swee, Namaskar

I agree with Bharat. Jupiter is in the third from arudha lagna showing

self awareness at the time of demise.

Chandrashekhar's qoute is well justified by Mandi joined Jupiter,

but also is applicable as Jupiter disposits Gulika. Keep in mind that

this happens when you apply the advise of Mukunda Daivagya, namely

Mandi rising in the middle of the eighth portion and Gulika in the

begining of the eighth (end of saturns portion).

Yours sincerely,

Dear Swee,

It is Adhyaaya 1 Pada 2 Sutra 29.

"When Karakamsha falls in the time governed by Gulika (Gulika and Mandi

are not differentiated by Parashara or Jaimini, if my understanding is

right), the person will either administer poison to others or is killed

by such poisons (administered by others)." is the nearest I can

translate this sutra. It could also mean that he/she takes the poison

him/herself.

Dear Kishore,

I only replied to a specific question by Swee who is a knowledgeable

astrologer. She has given a specific data and a specific incident

asking about which of the two possibilities can be seen from the data.

So I do not view it as a discussion but a specific query about

astrological principles. As to myself, I think you know that I tend to

answer any sincere query.

Take care,

Chandrashekhar.

Dear Swee,

May be the image you project is of someone who could harm one if

crossed. Just joking. Personally I would think Gulika in Mandi in 4th

would indicate lot of suffering that your mother had as Moon the karaka

for Mother is also in the 3rd (12th from the 4th). This suffering may

relate to health of mother as Gulikadhipati Sun occupies 8th from the

4th.

Respected chandra sekharji,

Two things - I have written a mail iwthout noticing your mail and after that, I have seen your mail to scrap it and written a personal mail to it. But as things would have it, it went to the group. I have deleted the mail as it is meant to be a personal mail.

I have already appreciated the academic value of such querries. We all tend to gain something from such things. I myself have raised purely academic questions several times, to the benefit of all. What I was apprehensive is about the practical value of the discussion for THIS particular event, since we can not verify the readings.

Hope I am clear now.

Dear Kishore,

I understand what you mean. I think the value of any astrological

discussion depends on the participant's view point. Some may glean some

principle of value from it and some may not. Sort of one getting what

one seeks.

|| Jaya Jagannath ||Dear Swee,

4th and 5th houses are important in suicidal tendencies. In the given horoscope the 4th lord Mercury is placed in the Lagna with Venus with the 3rd and 8th lord Venus. This shows sorrow coming in her life. However, how capable the person is, to withstand the sorrow is seen from the 5th house. 5th house is vancant and the 5th lord Moon is placed in a eclipse combination (Sun + Rahu) and hence considerably afflicted. In addition, she is born in a amavasya with Moon being the 5th lord also involved. This all shows that she has almost lost her harmony to withstand any sorrow from outside.

However, a person really moves ahead to do suicide only when the 5th from Moon is equally afflicted. 5th from Moon is lorded by Sun who is considerably afflicted due to its presence with Rahu and Moon (Shakti Yoga). In addition as Visti Mentioned, since Jupiter is placed in the 3rd from AL, it shows foreknowledge of the person dying. Hence, it is a case of Suicide and not homicide.

Dear Sarajit,

I looked for Venus in the 3rd from AL because Shukra who debilitated Surya gives the fore knowledge of death. I have many cases especially when cancerous growths are concerned. What I have not realised is that any benefic in the 3rd from AL gives this fore knowledge.

Thank you for pointing out that the 4th house is also involved in suicidal tendencies besides the 5th. Is 4th the secondary house to look into?

She was quite a chirpy lady – Moon’s affliction certainly made her capable of hiding her feelings. As for being an optimist, this is indicative of an unafflicted Sun, is it not?

Dear all,

I am posting the birth details of a native who tired to commit suicide on morning of 26th feb,07 at Hyderabad for domestic reasons:

Male, Dec 5th 1959, 9:05 AM, Hyderabad

I recall my posting in in may 06, which i could extricate only with some effort:

msg no 18463

" ear friend,I am yet to cast and read the charts provided by you. But let me telltwo general points with regard to the suicides:The first one is to do with the natal chart of the native. Generally,

the Lagna Lord will be a malefic for the native. This happens totarus and the four 'corner' lagnas. Also, the Moon must be severelyafflicted. If moon is severly afflicted, it can also indicate apossibility of Balarishta, though in Balarishta, the connection of

Mars with certain Houses is compulsory. In other words, the Moonsposition will be alike in both Balarishta and suicide cases. The second point is to do with the transits. The Tr Lagna lord shouldbe cruelly aspecting himself in the natal chart. Sometimes, this

position can be taken by AK but then, AK should be AK for the transitchart also.Hope this helps,Kishore patnaik "

In this particular case, the lagna is not only one of the 'corner' rasis(gemini, virgo, sagi and pisces) but also, the LL is Jupiter in 12th and the tr jup is conjuct with him. No such combination can be found in the above Londonite's tr/natal chart., though basically the sign is one of the corner rasis.

The word that is going around is that it is more of a scare to have his way at home than to really commit suicide out of frustration. ( He has taken just enough pills to create a flutter but not so much as to kill himself)

You would notice the tr rahu's 12th aspect on natal moon, who is himself 8th lord indicating deception.

Hope this helps,

Kishore patnaik

|| Jaya Jagannath ||Dear Swee, 4th and 5th houses are important in suicidal tendencies. || Jaya Jagannath ||Dear Swee, Namaskar,

I would not consider all benefics in the 3rd from AL to give foreknowledge. Only two gurus, Jupiter and Venus can give foreknowledge of death.

About the 4th house significance in matters of Suicide. If a person is not unhappy, he will hardly do suicide. 5th house is for maintaining inner harmony when the person is sad, hence important.

I would think optimism to be seen from benefic influences on the lagna and the lagna lord. The way we see the world is seen from the lagna and optimism is just an attitude. For example, if Saturn aspects the lagna, usually such people tend to see the gloomy side of a thing, however it is different if Jupiter or Sun influences.

Sarajit

Jaya JagannathaDear Sarajit,NamasteI looked for Venus in the 3rd from AL because Shukra who debilitated Surya gives the fore knowledge of death. I have many cases especially when cancerous growths are concerned. What I have not realised is that any benefic in the 3rd from AL gives this fore knowledge.

Thank you for pointing out that the 4th house is also involved in suicidal tendencies besides the 5th. || Jaya Jagannath ||Dear Kishore, Namaskar,

Some additional points...

1. 4th house has nodal affliction and the 4th lord is placed in the 12th house with malefics Mars and Sun. In additon, Lagna has Saturn and has two more malefics in kendra, which shows his pessimistic outlook.

2. 5th house is empty but aspected by 6th lord Venus and the 5th lord is placed with Sun in the 12th house. However, since with Jupiter and Mercury, I would consider the person quite stable minded.

3. 5th house from Moon is also unoccupied by aspected by Mars, Sun and two benefics Jup and Merc.

So I would not consider this chart as a case of Suicide due to extreme frustration and lack of hope to live. As you said, possibly he wanted to scare others.

Best Wishes

Sarajit

" ear friend,I am yet to cast and read the charts provided by you. But let me telltwo general points with regard to the suicides:The first one is to do with the natal chart of the native. Generally, the Lagna Lord will be a malefic for the native. This happens totarus and the four 'corner' lagnas. Also, the Moon must be severelyafflicted. If moon is severly afflicted, it can also indicate apossibility of Balarishta, though in Balarishta, the connection of Mars with certain Houses is compulsory. In other words, the Moonsposition will be alike in both Balarishta and suicide cases. The second point is to do with the transits. The Tr Lagna lord shouldbe cruelly aspecting himself in the natal chart. Sometimes, this position can be taken by AK but then, AK should be AK for the transitchart also.Hope this helps,Kishore patnaik "
