Guest guest
Dear All, You might like to have a look at this most interesting chart of a great artist, a shamanic figure and a mythmaker also which marks him out as a poet of very rare quality. But a most interesting life also: Great fame and success including royal patronage and two of his wives committed suicide and one of his children was murdered by his wife. He was also deeply interested in astrology and made a lifelong study of the Western system. I am particularly interested in elements of the chart which indicate a great poet or creative power. Any comments? There is a small doubt about the exact birth time but that should be easily rectifiable from the biography. (see below) Edward J. Hughes Born 17 August 1930, Mytholmroyd England, 1w59 53n54 Time: 01.00 am or 01.12 am. For the time see the letter quoted below and the discussion on astro.com here: http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Hughes%2C_Ted Significant dates: 16 June 1956, London: Marriage to Sylvia Plath. Plath birth data: 14.10, 27 Oct 1932, Boston MA, USA. Feb 23 1957 Hawk in the Rain wins Harper publication contest . In a letter to his sister dated Feb 23 1957 he wrote: " This is the 23rd, so just see what my horoscope is, because it's the best stroke of personal fortune that I suppose I've had ever. Jupiter on the cusp of the fifth if I was born at one exact. Mars near my moon. Moon opposite my ascendant. It's much better for Sylvia – the sun on her ascendant degree – Jupiter near her moon – perhaps not. " (The Letters of Ted Hughes, p94) 11 Febuary 1963, London: Suicide of Plath. Guest guest
Dear Oliver, There are a few combinations that makes this person a great writer and a poet. For someone to write good poetry, look for combinations involving Moon and Mercury. In this chart: - Moon and Mercury are in almost exact trines and there by both having same nakshatra lord Venus. Adding Venus to the combination of Moon and Mercury adds good spice to the poetry - Moon and Mercury are conjunct in Navamsha - Mercury, the karaka for writing occupies the third house, the house ruling writing. This is a great combination for a writer. - Though Moon is debilitated in Navamsha, Mercury has a very good Shadbala I suspect that his navamsha lagna is Scorpio. That gives Moon and Mercury in Navamsha lagna and Venus in the 7th (in own sign) giving higher level of poetic ability to the native. Guest guest
Dear Oliver, Look for the 3rd house and the 5th house connection for creativity. Conjunction of Sun and Mercury in the 5th house from Moon in the chart answers your question. Rahu and Ketu in 1:7 axis and Venus moving to 6th Lord Mercury with 5th lord in the 5th house would reveal the story line further. Regards, C.S. Ravindramani. >>>I am particularly interested in elements of the chart which indicate a greatpoet or creative power. Guest guest
Thank you Krishna, for your insights. The Scorpio navamsa lagna does seem at first to be better for a poet, but what about the catastrophic marriages? they did at least give him great fame, but what about the dasha timings? 01.00am birth gives first marriage as Ma/Mo 01.12am birth gives first marriage as Ra/Ra 01.00am birth gives winning publication contest as Ra/Ra 01.12am birth gives winning publication contest as Ra/Ra 01.00am birth gives first wife's suicide as Ra/Sa 01.12am birth gives first wife's suicide as Ra/Sa 01.00am birth gives second wife's suicide as Ra/Ve 01.12am birth gives second wife's suicide as Ra/Ve He was asked to be Poet laureate 07/11/84 and accepted 10/12/84 but I don't know when it was announced. 01.00am birth gives Ju/Ve ending 17/02/85 01.00am birth gives Ju/Ve ending 17/12/84 01.00am birth gives death as Sa/Ve 01.12am birth gives death as Sa/Ve My software does not calculate pratyantar dashas, so I cannot give more detail.
