Guest guest
Dear All, If you were asked to list the 10 most important ancient texts of Vedic astrology, which 10 texts would they be. I have in mind texts such as Brihat Parasara Hora Sara (BPHS). I am trying to put together for my own study a list of Jyotish sutras from the most important texts of Vedic astrology. Looking forward to a considered reply from you all. Thanks and regards. Sanjay Sharma

Guest guest
Dear Prashantji, Many thanks for giving me a list of original texts with which I can now begin. I learnt the basics of Vedic astrology from texts in English Language, mainly the books of late BV Raman and, of course, the books of the great Shri KN Rao. But I had no idea which of the ancient texts of Vedic astrology were essential reading. I would be grateful to you if you allowed me to write directly to you for further advice in this regard or, if that would be inconvenient to you, give me the names of of the other ancient texts (of Vedic astrology) which, in your view, are important. Thank you, once again, for taking the trouble to prepare the book-list I had requested. Guest guest
Sanjay sharma, each of these books are quite strong on their own and can help shape ur pursiit and perfection comes with practice, application of what u find all thse and few named by a member recently with some info on it are all good books worth reading, pursung seriously in the list I have given u Uttara kalamrutha by Kalidasa is a v good work that has many practical tips in them say the 4th chapter in it is like Bhagavad geethas 4th chapter a lot of fundamentally storn rules how to apply yogas/avayogas, conjunctions, retrogression etc Brihat Jataka by varhmire if u get V subramanya shastry or B Suryanarayana raos works they r good it is a collection of varoius scholars views expressed by Varhamira [he merely says Garga said this yuvanacharya said this... a great scholar himself] has aspects to Yoni janma non human beings chapter to know abt plants, animals etc. if interested in Prashna or Horary astrology [electroal] this can answer many areas straight away will one succed in the venture undertaken will one get the lost article will this alliance work will the partner ship work etc... this is a v deep subject can cover many segments of life Prashna Tantra for a undertaning and starting still good on its own PRASHNA MARGA VOL 1,2 ARE QUITE EXHAUSTIVE ON THE SUBJECT. u also have Batopala's Horasara also a small but great work he is a disciple of Varhamia. Sanketha nidhi gives u clues on adoption, birth of child from conception time onwards also birth time rectificatio n by working backards from delivery or known birth time itself can re-work conception time and gain come forward. most of the works said r of V Subramnaya shastry and his collegue M Ramakrishna Bhatt M R bhats fundamental principles of astrology by motilal banarsidas & sons and other works like Sarvarthachintamani, Prashnapadavi, Brihat samhita etc r still available. we can still exchange views openly in the forum than private as the info in public domain helps many ppl like u the objective of forum, its contets r that it helps one and all both ways Prashant Best wishes On Sun, Jun 28, 2009 at 5:41 PM, neusmann <neusmann wrote: > > > Dear Prashantji, > Many thanks for giving me a list of original texts with which I can now > begin.
