I guess that the name given at birth should be used exclusively. May other Gurus correct me if I'm wrong. Yours, Gauranga das
Guest guest
Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya My dear Gauranga Prabhu, The name given at birth is important, but the name given at the time of diksha is even more important. It is this name that vibrates the mantra given by the Guru. In the tradition, this naming and going to the classes was simultaneous, but with the change in time, the system of pet names came in. I had a pet name " Kabul " . It has no meaning, or perhaps is the capital of Afghanistan!! It doesn't matter any more. Best Wishes Sanjay - Gauranga Das <gauranga <varahamihira > Saturday, July 22, 2000 8:38 PM Re: [sri Guru] avasthas & sounds > JAYA JAGANNATHA! > > Dear Ajit, > > Namaste. > > > > OM namo narayanaya > > > > Dear Gurus and fellow students, > > > > For calculating the strength, the first syllable of the name is required. > > In this day and age, many people have " pet " names in addition to their > > " real " names. In my case it begins with the same letter, but for tohers should this be followed? Or maybe if someone changes their name then the new one should be used?
