Thanks a lot for informing. Indeed todays amavashya becomes very special. Also today is Tuesday. Wonderful really.Sarbani Rath <sarbani wrote: Hare Rama Krishna Dear friends, Today’s amavasya is very special. It is Phalaharini Kali Puja; a very special Kali Puja performed largely in Bengal. Sri

Ramakrishna performed this regularly. In Orissa, married women perform the Savitri. Best Regards, Sarbani Rath Home Page: http://sarbani.com SJC: http://.com Courses: http://sohamsa.com Publications: http://sagittariuspublications.com "This above all: to thine own self be true!" - Hamlet

Dear Sarbani di,

Can you please educate me on the various forms of Kali pujo and the

reason behind the selection of certain specific Amavasyas for the

same?

This is what I could gather from the internet:

Kali is worshipped daily, but there are special pujas during

Dipamvita (the new moon of Kartik), Maghi Krsnachaturdashi (the

fourteenth day of the moon during Magh), Krsnachaturdashi (the dark

fortnight) in Jyaistha etc. The goddess as worshipped in Magh and

Jyaistha is named Ratanti and Phalaharini respectively. Kali puja is

also held when asking for a special boon.

My family has a 200 year old tradition of Kali Pujo but we do the

Kartik month pujo during diwali.

I am quite uneducated on the other ones and legend behind them.

I shall be grateful if you could share your views with me (and us) on

this and enlighten us on the subject.

Regards,

Souvik
