Namaste Swee ji,

As always, its a delayed response from

me. :(

Here is what I am able to gather with

respect to the Das Mahavidhyas.....

The das Maha-Vidhyas or the ten great

devi worship comes from the Todala Tantra Patalas out of ancient Hindu tantra.

There are hundreds of such devi worships (vidhya) in tantra and out of

which the 10 major ones are termed as mahavidhyas.

There are several " levels " at

which one can engage among the das mahavidhyas starting from a elementary

yantra-sthapana combined with mantra worship to the higher full

fledged and elaborate practices including tantra rituals and offerings as

reveled in the Todala.

The ten devi-form incarnations as

reveled in the 10th chapter of Todala tantra, worshipping which

( any of the ten mahavidyas) gives the native complete control over his

senses and/or fulfillment of the most materialistic of his desires. Below is a

table that gives consort forms of each of the Vidhyas:-

**The last

one (11th): Kali in the form of Krishna murti, is

in italics because as reveled by Shiva in the Todala tantra, she is yet to

arrive by herself.

In Jyotish, Mahavidhya is considered as a

higher remedy for severe planetary afflictions. The ten correspond to the nine

Dear Gaurav,

Namaste

You can find

their sattvic energies from the puranas. Please include their original

masculine energies and how the feminine forms appeared – stories linked

to them J

Good luck.

Swee
