They are useful in timing of events. Leave them for now, as there controversies that affect their computation. GL and HL are ghati lagna and hora lagna. They are special lagnas useful in seeing power and wealth respectively. Read BPHS for definitions. My book also gives the definitions. Read COVA and my book for some examples of using them.
