Guest guest
Dear Jyotisha, Namaste, Jaya Jagannath! Om Narayana Namah (Sri Ramanujacarya) .... Now to the planets. Among the unlimited opulences of Lord Narayan, Sri Parasara in his Visnu-purana signles out the 6 main ones: aisvaryasya samagrasya viryasya yasasah sriyah jnana vairajnayos caiva sannm bhaga itigana (VP 6.5.47) So Jupiter is the reflection of His riches (in the broad sense), aisvarya, Mars is the reflection of His strengh, or virya, the Sun and the Moon are the reflections of His fame (yasah), Venus is the reflection of His beauty (sri), Mercury is the reflection of His knowledge (jnana) and Saturn is the reflection of His renounciation (vairajna). These qualities take charge of the 12 signs in the transcendental Zodiac. While Lord Narayana posesses these qualitites in full and unlmited degree, the jiva, even it's liberated stage posesses them only in an infinitesimal degree. And in the conditional stage it posesses merely a perverted reflection of those qualities. The first 4 signs reflect those qualities which are functional at the stage of transcental (para-avyakta) attraction - virya, beauty, knowledge, and fame. The next 4 signs reflect the same at the functional stage. And at the perfectional stage the two qualities, namely transcendental opulence and renounciation (again nothing to do with the material ones) are prominent. This goes beyond the subject of this class so I leave it here mentioning only that they partake traits akin to Solar and Lunar parts.
