Guest guest
|| Hare Rama Krishna ||Dear Vadhris-ji, namaskar. Debilitation effects can depend on situation and on the degree of debilitation (i.e. degree of longitude away from deep debilitation point). Debilitated lords of dusthanas are good as they show less trouble on a mundane level. Debilitated planets connected to the Dhanabhava can give wealth especially if debilitated planet is receiving neecha-bhanga and is in strength in Navamsa (chart to see over all fortune). The reason is that debilitation means that the graha is in a difficult situation and can exert its strength to tackle that situation. Ofcourse this assumes that the graha has other strengths (see link 1 for Shadbala below). A debilitated planet if conjoins another friendly planet (but there is no neechabhanga as per definition) then the neecha graha may gain strength and the other graha may loose some strength in its presence. If a debilitated planet is also retrograde, it is regarded by some as akin to exaltation (but not exactly that) especially if that graha is in good terms with its dispositor. Similarly, a graha in exaltation but retrograde shows connotations of debilitation (but not exactly that). Debilitation of luminaries can show difficulty as their strengths are necessary to trigger Rajyogas. In this way, judgement should be made on exaltation and debilitation along with other factors of the chart, as just on its own this factor is not overly important. Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Srinivas, In certain circumstances, a debilitated planet can elevate the native to great heights or achievement and success. Conditions surrounding this vary from one horoscope to the next, yet the following guidelines should be noted as applicable in all cases: 1. If the debilitated planet is also retrograde, it will act as if exalted. (The converse is true in the case of a retrograde and exalted planet). 2. If the debilitated and retrograde planet occupies a kendra from lagna, then it is capable of conferring Raja-yoga on the native. If such a planet is lord of the lagna or of a trikona, involved with kendra lords in similar positions, or conjoined one of the nodes, then a great neechabhanga Raja-yoga is enjoyed by the native. 3. A poignant example of the above principle is found in the chart of Michael Jordan, who is taken to be the greatest basketball player that ever lived. I have attached the chart in .jhd format to this email for those who have JHora software. Note in that chart that lagna lord Mars is retrograde and debilitated, while joining the 4th house with Rahu. This alone confers Raja-yoga, yet it is also in mutual aspect to 10th lord Saturn who is in Swaksetra. So in his case, birth in a poor family in the inner city of Brooklyn, NY, were the humble beginnings from which he rose to incredible fame and fortune as an athlete. 4. Jaimini also makes the statement: " Tasmin uche neeche va, srimantah, " meaning that in the current age of Kali, both exalted and debilitated planets make the person " Srimantah, " or fortunate. 5. It may be of special advantage to one with the Atmakaraka planet in debilitation, as the vexations and challenges of life lead to a type of humility that enables him to surrender to God in the form of his Ishta-devata all the more easily. For spiritual matters, an exalted Atmakaraka represents a highly advanced soul, yet the strength due to exaltation may incline him to " ahankara, " or the over-evaluation of self-importance. This unreasonable manifestation of false ego can be a serious impediment on the path of spiritual advancement. 6. Along the same principles, for spiritual matters, it is often found that several debilitated planets are positioned in the Vimsamsa chart. This is consistently true in the charts of great gurus, such as Srila Prabhupada and others. The reason is that the Vimsamsa chart, by reduction of cycles of 12, equates to the number 8, or the 8th house, and is one of three varga charts appropriated by Parasara to the conscious mental plane, i.e. D-16. D-20, and D-24 (note that the Ashtamsa, or 8th harmonic, is among varga charts representing the physical plane, and therefore relates to birth, death, and disease of the physical body). The 8th, apart from its relevance to the occult and metaphysical areas, is the 12th from the 9th, or in other words the house of sacrifice or renunciation on behalf of the guru. The more the disciple renounces on his guru's behalf, then the more advanced on the path of God-realization he is taken to be. So in essence, debilitated planets in the Vimsamsa chart (D-20) show that the native surrenders every possible aspect of the mundane karakatva of that planet for the service of his guru. 7. Dharma, however, is the domain of the Navamsa as well as Shastiamsa charts (D-9 and D-60 respectively). For dharma to be strong therefore, the Atmakaraka and other planets should be well-placed and strong in this charts, and not debilitated. All these principles and more are discussed in my book with numerous examples, for those who may want to pursue this subject further. I hope this helps! Best wishes, Robert At 11:10 AM 10/17/2005, you wrote: Hi all learned ones: I have been keenly looking for some hints on when debilitation in a chart (rasi and/or vargas) is actually helpful?
