Guest guest
Namaste Brendan, As per my understanding, Paryaaya dasas show the changing physical, mental and emotional constitution of a native and it is used mainly for health matters. But my understanding could be incorrect or incomplete. Thanks for the book recommendation and the pitta notes. I will look forward to the rest of the notes. As I pondered over the 5 sub-groups, it strikes to me that the 5 sub-groups exhibit the influence of pancha tattvas/bhootas. All the types of pitta are involved with transforming things. They all have some fire and water involved. In addition, based on the nature of the exact transformation, we can see the additional pancha tattva/bhoota influences as suggested below: (1) Panchaka pitta is the basic pitta and it governs the power of digestion and body temperature. It is the transformational dosha (pitta) influenced mostly by agni tattva (fire). (2) Ranjaka pitta imparts color to blood, stool etc. It also deals with the transformation of toxins etc. It is the transformational dosha (pitta) with the influence of bhoo tattva (earth). (3) Sadaka pitta transforms the nervous signals in the brain into something inexplicable that the brain " experiences " . This transformational energy deals with perception, intelligence etc. It's the transformational dosha (pitta) influenced by aakaasa tattva (ether). (4) Alochaka pitta transforms light rays entering from outside of the system into nervous signals sent to the brain. It lives in the eyes. As it directly deals with transforming an external input, it is the transformational dosha (pitta) influenced by vaayu tattva (air). (5) Brajaka pitta transforms the moisture in the body into lustre and complexion of the skin. It is the transformational dosha (pitta) influenced by jala tattva (water). If a problem related to pitta is seen with the influence of earthy planets/rasis, for example, we may expect problems related to Ranjaka pitta. If a problem related to pitta is seen with the influence of watery planets/rasis, for example, we may expect problems related to Brajaka pitta. I am only thinking loud....
