Can we decide what we want to become in our next life?

Next life depends on the karma gathered, conciousness (chitta) and the

focus of the mind whilst departing. If the karma and conciousness is on

the middle level then one takes the birth as a human on the earth, then

based on the desire you are getting particular body, abilities etc. Its

kind risky though so its always advised to be focused on God as the

human birth altough best for spiritual activity is very rarely obtained

(Srimad Bhagavatam 7). Luckily we can do both so there is sa-kama,

karma-yoga and niskama, in all the spiritual practice may become the

same but the intensity, quality and ammount will change positively.

Getting diksa from bona-fide Guru will be very lucky situation.

I understand that what we get in our lives depends on what karma we

have done in previous lives. However can we kind of develop awareness

in this life for something we really desire to achieve but can not

achieve due to some limitations and store it in our subconscious so

that it helps us in coming lives? Can we strengthen the planet which is

the significater of the special abilities we want to have in next lives?

 

For example, I have a great desire to become a classical singer. I have

a fairly ok voice but can not sing at the level of someone like Pt.

Jasraj or Pt. Bhimsen Joshi because it takes several life times to be

able to sing like these two. They must have a very strong Moon or a

Venus along with other supporting yogas to be so proficient in

classical singing. Can I start strengthening my Moon or Venus now so

that I have a head start in singing from a young age in my next life?
