Vimsottari and Chara Karakas

Hari Om,

In response to my question about Rahu as my Atmakaraka, on another

jyotish list, I was asked which dasa system I was using. I responded

that I am using Vimsottari dasa. At this point it was pointed out to

me that when using Vimsottari I shouldn't be using the Chara Karakas

unless I am using a Jaimini dasa because I would be mixing systems. In

reading the BPHS [chapter 32] Parasara speaks about the Chara Karakas

before mentioning the Constant Karakatwas, and it is my understanding

that Parasara preferred the Vimsottari dasa.

Can the experienced Jyotis please clear this matter up for me?

I have read where Jaimini is considered a sub-system of Parasara's

system, but I also realize there are learned Astrologers who disagree

with that viewpoint.

Shiould I, in fact, be using the Chara dasa or another dasa system?

If we cannot use one with the other why does Parasara mention the

Chara Karakas without clarifying when they can or cannot be used?

All help with this matter will be greatly appreciated?

Namaste,

olusanya
