We use both Nakshatras and Grahas, that way we cannot only give food health and sustenance (nakshatras) but also ensure success in undertakings (grahas). Using the Sanskrit Vargas: Sun = all vowels/svaras. Mars = ka-varga. Venus = cha varga. Mercury = ta (mudgara) varga. Jupiter = ta (danta/dental) varga. Saturn = ma varga (all labials). Moon = ya-varga (all semivowels). The nodes do not have a varga, but some advise the division of the Moons varga into two parts for Rahu and Ketu.
