Direction to Face When Doing Japa (How to Choose?)

Dear Sarbani Ji,

Thanks for this. I have read about the directions from various sources including

Sanjayji's VRA book (Though VRA lays out a different scheme from the one I

indicated). At any rate, thank you for answering my question. I'll of course

Namaste

As per Guru Gita in a dialogue between Lord Shiva and Parvati,

Lord Shiva does indicate that west is best for material gains and wealth also

all kinds of wealth, etc.

Please refer Guru Gita for more details both for direction and also the type of

asana material.

It is a very important gita where Lord Shiva has narrated the importance of

SadGuru.

Dear All,

What if ones is doing the Mahakal Jyortirlinga Mantra? the Jyotirlinga which faces south, represents Libra (where saturn is exalted - west), and the sign is ruled by Venus (South).
