Dear Mu,

My point: the decision as to whether a chart qualifies or not to learn

Jyotish is PURELY PERSONAL to the Jyotish Guru and it is upto him to decide

the criteria he wants in his fellow astrologers/ Sisya's. Thus, that

question has relevance ONLY IF you want to become a SISYA of Dr. Roberts!!!.

Else please take back your question and forget this episode. You know your

qualifications in your chart with Jupiter in the tenth , 8th lord in a

trine, Malefics like Rahu & Saturn in the 4th (part of Matsya Yoga) and so

on.

The basic qualifications of a Sisya are stated in BPHS and being of

Brahmin Birth is NOT one of them. The reasons are that Jyotish is a Vedanga

and not the Veda itself. Harihara in his monumental Classic Prasna Marga

urges Brahmins to learn Jyotish stating that WHEN EVEN MLECCHA'S CAN GET

FAME AND GOOD REPUTATION FROM THIS VIDYA, THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THE PURE

BRAHMIN WILL BE WELL REWARDED BY THE PURSUIT OF THIS KNOWLEDGE. Thus, there

is no taboo for others of non-brahminical origin to learn and practise this

Vidya.

However, the point of Dr Roberts needs to be appreciated in that NONE OF

US HAS ANY BUSINESS TO BECOME A RAKSHASHA AND DISTURB THE WORK OF THE

MAHARISHI'S AND QUESTION THEIR WISDOM. Since this is the same as what you

also aim to say, the matter stands resolved.
