Dear learned members,

What is the difference between Kumbha vivaha and Ark vivaha and what are the

conditions under which either one is to be recommended ? Kindly enlighten.

Warm regards,

Atul

Dear Atul,

Normally I think Kumbha vivaha is recommended for women and Arka

Vivaha is recommended for men.

The Arka vivaha is also mentioned in Kalpa sutra text (vedic texts for

rituals or remedial karmas) baudhayana grihya sesha sutra 5,5.

Besides this there are other vivaha's also performed for example

around south india I have seen Vivaha to Banana tree (It's considered

as a girl).

Warm Regards,

Sanjay P

Dear Atul

As per shastra Kumbha is a representation of Vishnu - Rama.

Therefore Kumbha vivaha is for female nativity.

plants are considered *more feminine* although they

exhibit both male and female features. Some of the trees like Pipal and Banyan

are more male. Arka Vivaha is for male nativity.

Best Wishes
