Guest guest
Dear Gauranga, Jaya Jagannath TRIBHAGI: The word is composed of two words TRI (meaning three) and BHAGI (meaning Division). This is based on the concept that the Full longevity is to be enjoyed in three portions of Alpa, Madhya and Poorna Ayus. Thus any dasa can have a Tribhagi Dasa. The typical Yogini Dasa of 36 years is actually a Tribhagi dasa where each Bhaga has 36 years. Similarly, the 120 year Vimsottari Dasa is compressed into three TRIBHAGI DASA of 40 years each. The Dasa periods of the planets in this Tribhagi Vimsottari are Sun=2, Moon=3 years 4 Months, Mars= 2 year 4 Months, Rahu=6 years, Jupiter=5 years 4 Months, Saturn=6 Years 4 Months, Mercury=5 years 8 Months, Ketu=2 year 4 Months, and Venus=6 years 8 Months. The Starting Dasa is to be determinede in the same manner as the Vimsottari Dasa. The Balance of the first dasa is determined in the same manner as the Vimsottari dasa, except that the balance shall be exactly one-third the period. For example in a chart we find that the normal Vimsottari dasa balanmce at birth is 6 years 5 months and 21 day. Divide this by 3 to get the Tribhagi Dasa balance of 2 years, 1 month and 27 days. Judgement of Results: 1. The dasa of the Sun & Mars are strong (good) in first Bhaga, those of Jupiter and Venus in the second Bhaga while those of Moon and Saturn in the third Bhaga. Mercury is strong to indicate results in all Bhaga. 2. Planets in first drekkana give results in first Bhaga, in second drekkana in second Bhaga and in third Drekkana in third Bhaga. 3. Like this there are many other simple rules. I think this should suffice for your students and thismaybe treated as a lesson in varahamihira List also. As homework, work out the Tribhagi dasa and try to pinpoint one important event at least.
