The actual root is " vivasvat " . The 1st vibhakti form is " vivasvaan " . The 4th vibhakti form is " vivasvate " . When you say " I bow to x " , you should use the 4th vibhakti. This is just like " bhagavaan " . The root is " bhagavat " . The 1st vibhakti form is " bhagavaan " . However, the 4th vibhakti form is " bhagavate " (as in " om namo bhagavate vaasudevaaya " ).
