Guest guest
JAYA JAGANNATHA! Dear Jyotisha, Pranaams. The replies sent to question no. 1 were very interesting to read. Today we are supposed to answer question #2, so I will try to give some hints on this. PRAVRAYJA YOGA Definition: This is a combination of planets indicating renunciation of material wealth/position/comfort for the sake of spiritual elevation. The native of such a yoge will usually accept a very simple lifestyle and conduct intense spiritual practices. Formation: Four or more strong planet in one house will for a Pravrajya yoga. This is especialy so, if the house harbouring these planets is a Kendra and one of the planets involved is the lord of the 12th house (moksha). Placement in the Kendras is important because then they will most likely cause a great influenceon the 4th house (heart) which will develop the desire for renunciation. If the 4th house is left out of the combination, then the renunciation will be only superficial. The strongest of them will denote the type of renunciant as per Parashara. If the planest are combust, then eother the native does not attain formal renunciation, or it will be signified by the Sun. If the Karaka of Pravrajya loses a planetary war, then the native will give up his wows. Other formations: From BPHS: 1. The dispositor of the Moon receives no aspect but aspects Saturn 2. The dispositor of the Moon is weak and is only aspected by Saturn 3. The Moon is in Drekkana of Saturn, in Navamsha of Saturn or Mars and aspected by Saturn. 4. Saturn aspects Jupiter, the Moon and Lagna, and Jupiter is in the 9th house. 5. Saturn in the 9th devoid of aspects and existence of Raja yoga will make the native a religious leader. 6. The 6th from Arudha Lagna has the conjunction of two or more benefics. From UPSJ: 7. Tapaswi yoga: Saturn aspecting Venus and Ketu in Swamsha (Nvamsha Lagna or Karkamsha) produces a tapaswi (one who performs great penances) or a servant. But if only Ketu is aspected, then the native is a fraud in the garb of a sannyasi. 8. If the 2nd from Upapada has malefic aspects or conjunctions, the native loses his wife or renounces the world. From Jatak Bharnam: 9. If the Ascendant lord is not aspected by any planet, and there's mutually no aspects between the Ascendant lord and Saturn, and saturn is devoid of strength, the native is initiated into the tenets of renunciation. From Saravali: 10. If the lord of the Moon sign aspects Saturn while Saturn is in an angle, the native will lose his fortunes only to enter into a religious order. 11. If one amongst the Sun, the Moon and Jupiter be devoid of strength, and occupy the ascendant or the 10th or the 12th in aspect to strong Saturn, the native will become a distressed ascetic. 12. Strong Moon in the 10th, in benefic Navamsha, other planets exalted, and all aspect the strong Saturn. 13. Waxing Moon is very strong and aspects the Ascendant lord which is weak and is alone in his sign, then he will be a mendicant, but not very happy. 14. Saturn ocuppying a benefic's Navamsha aspects all planets including the Moon. The Moon should be in Aquarius Navamsha. 15. Lord of the Moon aspects all the planets which are in one sign. From Jataka Parijata: 16. Three strong planets ocuppying their own, exaltation or other benefic vargas, are in the 10th house, and the lord of the house is also strong. 17. Lord of Lagna is weak and is aspected by Venus and the Moon, if a planet in exaltatio nsign or Navamsha aspects the Moon sumultaneously. 18. Lord of the Lagna aspected by several planets conjoined in one sign. 19. Lagna owned by Jupiter, Mars or Saturn and is aspected by Saturn, and Jupiter is in the 9th house. 20. Saturn aspects, Jupiter, Moon and Lagna, and Jupiter is in the 9th house. Conclusion: Main principles of the formation of Pravrajya yoga are: a) conjunction of four or more planets in one sign (excluding the nodes). The stronger and more benefic the palnets the better the result is. If some of them are combust or in war, the yoga may be broken. b) The type of renunciant will be shown by the strongest planet forming the yoga (see Saravali on details) c) Involvement of Saturn as Naisargika Karaka for renunciation is important d) The yoga must affect the Moon or the 4th house (mind), otherwise the desire for giving up enjoyment will not occur. e) Benefics in the 3rd and 6th from AL also cause Pravrajya Examples: H.H. Sivarama Swami 30. March 1949, Budapest (19E04, 47N30), birth time unknown. Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars and Venus in Pisces, Rahu Atmakarak in Aries. Saravali: The native will become a sage, giving up even his food and be honored by the people, if teh luminaries, Mercury, Venus and Mars combine in one sign. Here all planets except Venus are combust, so the Sun is the strongest denoting the type of renunciant: Saravali says that one who worships Agni and Surya (He does many yajnas and loves the Sun), Ganesa (He has a tiny Ganesa murti on His altar), recites the hymns of Gayatri, bathes in the Ganges and maintains absolute celibacy. Another example: Date of Birth: January 19, 1967Time of Birth: 2:45:00 pmTime Zone of Birth: 1:00 East of GMTLongitude of Birth: 16 E 35Latitude of Birth: 47 N 23+----------------------+| | Moo | | || | | Glk | Asc || Sat | Rah | | || | | Mnd | GL || | BL | | ||-------------|---------------------------|-------------|| | | || | | || | | JupR || | | || | | ||-------------| R A S I |-------------|| Sun | | || | | || Mer | | HL || | | || Ven | | ||-------------|---------------------------|-------------|| | | | || | | | || | | Ket | Mar || | | | || | | | |+----------------------+ +----------------------+| | | | || | | | GL || Ket | Mnd | | || | | | HL || | | | ||-------------|---------------------------|-------------|| Asc | | || | | Ven || Sun | | || | | Sat || Mer | | ||-------------| N A V A M S A |-------------|| | | || | | Moo || Glk | | || | | JupR || | | ||-------------|---------------------------|-------------|| | | | || | | | Rah || | | BL | || | | | Mar || | | | |+----------------------+ The native has Saturn in the 10th aspecting Mars AK in the 4th, AL is in Leo, Sun, Venus and Mercury are in the 6th from it, athough Mercury is combust, I think he has a great inclination towards renunciation.
