Dear friends,

According to some scholars Yama in Veda is the Saturn in Jyotisha and I agree

with that.. Yama is the son of the Sun and so also is the Saturn the son of the

Sun. They have the same type of vahana.

Hi,

In Navagriha stotra , it is clearly spelt that Shani is Yamagraja ( elder

brother )

In terms of Vahana, they have different vahanas too ( buffallo for Yama and

Gridhra - Vulture for Shani ). Both of them are related to Kubera too.

Here , more than literal meaning, there is something hidden.. Shani is the

ruler

who sees that the righteousness prevails in this world.. While Yama is a

Dharma

swarupa himself, who sets what is right and what is not.. Both are related

to

Kubera, which I believe, indicates the prosperity when somebody follows

Dharma..

Interestingly, Mars is also known as Dharmaraja or Dharmatmaja, with the

first

name as Bhumiputra. Can somebody throw more light on this ?

regards

Shri

Dear Shri Raj Rao,

<I sincerely appreciate your contrarian views and have read most of your

posts.>

Many thanks for your views, which are quite contrary to the ones held by

most of the " Vedic astrologers?.

< I do believe you have some interesting and useful thoughts on the

purpose of Astrology and the future of predictions.>

Again my sincere thanks for your comments. I am actually in search of

Truth and nothing but Truth. If it has any repurcussions on the purpose

of astrology or predictions etc., it is just a sort of " side effect " .

< I would however, request you to stop making this discussion personal

and make any remarks (positive or negative) about any member of this

forum.>

Very often some members give an entirely different twist to the points

under discussion and raise extraneous issues. That irritates the

original poster and he responds more vehemently than is expected. I

realize it later that perhaps that was the real motive of the concerned

persons---that the person with contrary views must be made so irritated

that he responds in an irrascible manner so that he can be put on a

scaffold!

<I hope you understand and respond positively.>

Being owner of a forum myself, of which you are one of the esteemed

members, I fully appreciate your stand. Pl. rest assured of my positive

contribution to this forum.

With regards,

A K Kaul
