The Paitamaha Siddhanta and also Vasishtha Siddhanta of Panchasidhantika almost follow that very pattern. Since there were no varas i.e. weekdays then, as they too were imported much later from other coutnries, nor do we find any mention of twenty-seven yogas in the VJ, nor of bava etc. Karnas, for that matter, it means that in the intial stages, India was having only " dvi-anga " i.e. " an almanac with two limbs i.e. tithi and nakshtra " . Inclusion of vishkumbhadi yogas appears to be a post Surya Sidhanta development whereas vara i.e. week days and bava etc. karnas appear to have been used prior to that since they are mentioned in the Atharva Jyotisha of about fifth century BCE. Obviously, there cannot be a apanchanga of prior to the Surya Sidhanta since the fifth anga i.e. vishkumbhadi yogas did not exist till then in India. And the Surya Sidhanta by Maya the mlechha is a work of about first century BCE/AD. Jai Shri Ram!
