Guest guest
It's late fall and the Indians on a remote reservation in Northern Canada asked their new chief if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets. When he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the winter was going to be like. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he told his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect firewood to be prepared. But, being a practical leader, after several days, he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, 'Is the coming winter going to be cold?' 'It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold,' the meteorologist at the weather service responded. So the chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more firewood in order to be prepared. A week later, he called the National Weather Service again. 'Does it still look like it is going to be a very cold winter?' 'Yes,' the man at National Weather Service again replied, 'it's going to be a very cold winter.' The chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of firewood they could find. Two weeks later, the chief called the National Weather Service again. 'Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?' 'Absolutely,' the man replied. 'It's looking more and more like it is going to be one of the coldest winters we've ever seen.' 'How can you be so sure?' the chief asked. The weatherman replied, 'The Indians are collecting firewood like crazy.' Remember this story whenever you get advice from a government official! Guest guest
Dear Marg,  a very nice one indeed!  its like the astrologer who never went wrong in foretelling the sex of the baby, well before it was born, long, before scans happened. many would Q up as his name spread far and wide in those days.  his reply would just be one of the two words 'male' or 'female'. if he said it's going to be a 'male' to Mr.X, he would hurriedly note down Mr.X's details in his presence and mark the opposite of what he predicted in his diary. if indeed a male child was born as predicted, his fame spread even more by word of mouth, if it were otherwise, our hero would always show Mr.X what he had recorded in his diary - 'female'. and show it to Mr.X if and when confronted. jokes apart, may we all strive to be better at applying sound and basic principles of astrology.  here's wishing all a very happy new year 2010. mahalakshmi        --- On Sat, 26/12/09, Marg <margie9 wrote: Marg <margie9 Nimitta Saturday, 26 December, 2009, 3:35 PM  It's late fall and the Indians on a remote reservation in Northern Canada asked their new chief if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild. 'Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?' 'Absolutely, ' the man replied. 'It's looking more and more like it is going to be one of the coldest winters we've ever seen.' 'How can you be so sure?' the chief asked. The weatherman replied, 'The Indians are collecting firewood like crazy.' Remember this story whenever you get advice from a government official! Guest guest
I must go to ER because I think I split my 'sides' laughing at this scriptural tale shared by Marg! :-( :-) The moral of the TALE is: Never follow the Indians, blindly! They may be laying a TRAP for those that follow! Which Indians? Those of MANU or as pronounced by Christopher Columbus? Only the 'INDIANS' can figure out where they truly belong! ;-) Rohiniranjan , Krishnamurthy Seetharama <krishna_1998 wrote: > > Dear M, > > Excellent story!
