Your question as to, " Why Hindus are not getting desired result as a society ? " is very valid. Quite a few members of this forum are of the opinion that about ninety-nine per cent Hindus are " Vedic astrologers " . And since there are no Mesha, Vrisha etc. Rashis or Mangal, Shani etc. planets in the Vedas, the Vedanga Jyotisha etc., obviously, they/we are doing a great injustice to the Vedic seers. The most deleterious and sinister outcome of such a fatal infatuation of Hindu community with predictive gimmicks is that we are celebrating all our festivals and muhurtas on wrong days. Glaring examples of such predilections are that we celebrated a so called Makar Samkranti on January 14 and it was coupled with Maha Kumbha! If at all there is any Makar Samkranti as per the Siddhantas and Puranas, it is virtually a ditto copy of the ingress of the sun into Western Capricorn, which took place on December 22, 2009! It is known as Sayana Makar Samkranti! Pl. do not consture that I am advocating a " Western makar Samkranti " , what some of my friends call Gregorian calendar, as the so called Sayana Makar Samkranti is as imaginary a division of an imaginary circle called ecliptic as the so called nirayana one, which was celebrated on January 14, 2010! To the best of my knowledge, there is actually no Makar Samkranti, whether the so called Sayana (Western)or so called Nirayana (Indian)as per the Vedas, the Vedanga Jyotisha , Atharva Jyotisha, Atharva Veda Parishistha or even modern astronomy! It is actually Uttarayana, the Winter Solstice, that has been extolled in the Vedas and the Puranas, that was celebrated in the past because that is a natrual phenomenon, and not an imaginary one thrust on us by " almighty " Lahirirwals and Ramanawalas and so on! Ironically, our Mahatmas and all the saints are shouting from hosetops on every TV channel that Uttarayana also took place of January 14. Such being the state of knowledge " of our saints and jagadgurus, you can well imagine that it is next to impossible to get " desired results as a society " . To substantiate my arguments, I would request you to kindly go through BVB6, Rotary1 and 1999b documents in the files section and let me have your views. Jai Shri Ram!
