Re: My correct Nakshatra and Date of Birth as per Sayana system

Shri Prasanna Kumarji,

Jai Shri Ram and welcome to Hindu Calendar forum!

<Now I like to know when is my correct date of birth and nakshatra as

per this system. Can anyone help me in finding this?>

The date of birth remains always the same as per any system! Even the

Synodic tithi remains the same since a tithi is nothing but the

distance between the moon and the sun divided by twelve!

It is only the name of lunar month that differs in most of the cases

since the Lahiri/Ramana etc. lunar Chaitra etc.months have got advanced

by one month from the Vedic lunar Chaitra etc. months! Still, sometimes

they remain the same for some time becaue of adhika-masa in the so

called sayana system being plus/minus a few months of the so called

nirayana system!

Regarding nakshatras, there is a program named Vasishta in the files

section of Hindu Calendar forum that gives the longitudes of all the

prominent/Junction stars for any date from 10000 BCE to 12030 AD. Thus

if you are interested in knowing your janma-nakshatra, pl. see the

longitude, so called tropical, of the moon at the time of your birth and

tally that longitude with the longitude of the Junction Star that was

nearest to it then. Shri Darshaney Lokesh is of the opinion that one

nakshatra ranges from the conjunction of the Moon with one Junction star

till it gets conjunct with the next. Some people think that the

Junction star maybe taken as the middle of a nakshatra.

Since this forum is seeking opinion from all concerned regarding the

actual position of Junction stars vis-a-vis nakshtras, and since nobody

is vernturing any view one way or the other, Shri Darshaney Lokesh's

methodology may be taken as correct till an overwhelming majority opines

against that system and opts for the Junction Stars being treated as the

middle of nakshatra division of that name. Of course, he/she will have

to give logical and also scientific reasons for his/her views.

What is, however, beyond all the reasonable doubts is that the present

equal nakshatra division of twenty-seven nakshatras is neither

scientific nor as per shastras but only as per whims and fancies of

jyotishis! There also, Lahiri Ashvini is different from Ramana Ashvini

which is again different from Chandra Hari Ashvini which in turn is

different form Tilaka Ashvini which in itself is different from

Yukteshwara Ashivni and so on! In a nutshell, even the nirayana

nakshatra divisions have nothing but disagreement/conflict with one

another not to speak of their disagreement with the so called sayana

nakshatra division! ! And ironicaaly, all the Dasha bhuktis, including

the Vimshottari and Ashtotari and kalachakra etc. etc. are decided from

those very mutually conflicting nakshatra divisions! And still more

ironically, every " nakshtra-division-wala " claims maximum of correct

predictions as per his cherished nakshatra division! THAT CERTAINLY IS

AN IMPOSSIBILITY SCIENTIFICALLY, since all the ayanamshas, including zero

ayanamsha, cannot be correct at one the same time, whereas all of them

maybe wrong, which they certainly are!

As such, pl. do some spade work yourself and try to find out your actual

lunar birth month and also janma nakshatra vis-a-vis Junction Stars.

Jai Srhi Ram!

Re: My correct Nakshatra and Date of Birth as per Sayana system

Shri Devi Singhji,

Jai Shri Ram!

<opts for the Junction Stars being treated as the middle of nakshatra

division of that name>

You are welcome to your views since the Junction star being treated as

midpoint of nakshatra appears to be as logical, if not more than, the

Junction Star being taken as the starting point of that nakshatra

division.

<However i would like to know any study doc there to study related to

Number of available option and selection of this option over them>

There is a lot of mutual correspondence of forum members on this subject

but not a consolidated document, and that is why this issue is still

hanging in the air as to whether to treat the Junction Stars as the

starting points of respective nakshatras or as their midpoints.

Secondly, some scholars are of the opinion that some names of Junction

Stars have been ascribed to them quite arbitrarily like the stars Chitra

(Sp;ica) and Svati (Arcturs) since they are away by less than one

degree in their longitudes from one another! And it appears quite

improbable that the Vedic Seers would have made such arbitrry division

with such juxtapositions!

The earliest source of nomenclatue of Junction Stars vis-a-vis

nakshatras of similar names is the Surya Siddhanta by maya the mlechha!

He has not given any logic or reasoning as to why he has given those

nakshatra names to those stars!

Ironically, those very " Vedic astrologers " who swear by the Surya

Siddhanta being a divine work are not opening their mouth about such

anachronisms in the SS.

ModernHindu astronomers also are silent! They too do not want to

comment on such thorny issues! It could be because they are afraid of

" Vedic astrologers " taking an umbrage as it will expose the myth of the

twenty seven equal nakshatra divisions.

Jai Shri Ram!

A K Kaul
