Dear Narasimha

Just one more query addendum to previous one.

Did parasara explicitly say when two or (more) planets in same dgree?

If you look at my chart, AK and AMK are in the same degree.

BK and MK are in the same degree.

I am sure you must have come across charts where multiple karakas are in same

degrees. In such rare(edge) cases, do you mean to say that rahu resolves

disputes for all of them.

My chart

december 15, 1976, 8:30 AM, New Delhi.

partha

have included rahu by looking at a situation where two planets are in the same

degree. Does Parasara Maharshi say anything about four planets in same degree?

Namaste Partha,

Parasara said " aMshaiH samau grahau dvau chet raahvantaan chintayet tathaa " . It

litereally means " if two planets are equal by degrees, then planets ending with

Rahu should be considered " . Even later, he said " dvau grahau bhaagatulyau chet " ,

meaning " if two planets are of equal degrees " .

He specifically said two. However, he did not say " only two " . So that does not

preclude 3 or 4 or 2+2. If three planets are equal in degrees or four planets

are eqaul in degrees or two pairs of planets are individually equal in degrees,

in all these cases you also have " two planets " that are equal in degrees. Hence

Parasara's criterion applies and Rahu is included. You exclude Rahu only when

all seven planets are in seven different degrees.

You can use JHora 7.33 to find chara karakas in any chart using " Mixed 7/8 chara

karakas of Parasara " option. Your case is a straight-forward case.

Also, kaaraka dasa illustrated in the chara dasa article (at

http://www.VedicAstrologer.org/articles) is supported by JHora 7.33. Click

" dasas " tab, " other dasas " lower tab and " Karaka dasa " in pop-up menu.

Best regards,

Narasimha

pt.Rath views)

Narasimha

and 8 chara karakas in others. He even gave the astrological criteria to apply

chara karaka camp nor the 8 chara karaka camp is correct. Both camps violate

Parasara.

chara karakas as taught by Parasara (and understood by me). It also defines a

dasa system known as Karaka dasa (taught by Parasara) and illustrate how it

works using 16 clear examples. Another article titled " Parasara's Atma Karaka

Kendradi Graha Dasa " defines a dasa system based on AK and illustrates it using

13 clear examples.

the horoscope. In JHora 7.33, select " Preferences " , " Related to calculations "

and " Chara karaka scheme (7 or 8) " . In the selection combobox, select the 4th

option " Mixed 7/8 chara karakas of Parasara " . It then takes 7 chara karakas in

some charts and 8 in others, based on Parasara's criteria.
