Guest guest
Dear shri Pawan Mariyaji, Namaskar! You are quite right. But we should not forget that in the Vedic astrology it was both tropical and sidereal in coordinated manner. Thus sixth sloka of yajur vedanga jyotish says: 'When the sun and the moon are together in dhanistha nakshyatra, the five year yuga, month of magha, tapa sukla pratipada and uttarayan start together. ' This shows that sun in dhnistha is sidereal date, maagha sukla pratipada is lunar date and uttarayan is tropical date. The fact that they all started together proves that these three dates are coordinated. In this same spirit, we should also know that when we say 'makar sankranti is uttarayan,' nowa days, these are also coordinated. 'Makar sankranti' is sidereal and 'uttarayan' is tropical. When we represents one by the other they are intended to be coordinated. Thus it is not fully true that, in ancient time, only the tropical date was used. The truth is that tropical and sidereal dates were used in a coordinated manner.
