Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna I have a question. Is Makar Sankranti (Sun going into Capricorn) really the time that the Sun starts its northerly course? Or is it at the Winter Solstice when the days start to get longer? Could the festivals of Makar Sankranti have originated back in a time when there was little difference between the Tropical and Sidereal Zodiacs (i.e. a negligible ayanamsa) and thus, used to be correct? If this is true, which is the more auspicious time, Makar Sankranti or the Winter Solstice? John Fontaine
