Guest guest
Dear Chitra, I am cc'ing this to varahamihira for the benefit of others. > Dear narasimha, > I calculate the Vivaha Saham Manually for Sanjay's chart and and got > Virgo. JHL gives it as Libra. Is JHL making a mistake or me. > Please verify. > Best wishes > Chitra Wijewickrama. See COVA or Dr. Raman's varshaphala book for the definitions of sahams. Vivaha saham = Venus - Saturn + Lagna (for day time charts) Vivaha saham = Saturn - Venus + Lagna (for night time charts) Sanjay was born in night. So use the second formula. Saturn is at 26 Cp 50, i.e. 296 deg 50 min (from the beginning of the zodiac). Venus is at 14 Cn 56, i.e. 104 deg 56 min. Lagna is at 14 Pi 02, i.e. 344 deg 2 min. Vivaha saham = 296:50 -104:56 + 344:02 = 535 deg 56 = 175 deg 56 min (after subtracting 360 deg). In the computation of sahams, there is one rider. If a saham is A - B + C, then we should start from B, go zodiacally till A and see if C is encountered on the way. If not, we should add 30 deg to the answer. Here, we have Saturn - Venus + Lagna. Start from Venus (in Cn) and go zodiacally till Saturn (Cp). Do we encounter lagna (in Pi) on the way? We don't. So add 30 deg. The answer is 205 deg 56 min. This is 25Li56. That is what JHL gives.
