When was BPHS composed? Was it not before 484 AD?? If so, when Parasara attributes the 7 day period of reckoning time for Mars, what does he mean? Next argument: We have Varadhipati and results of birth on different days of the week..! How can this be there if the week was unheard of? Similarly for the rulership of Hora etc.. We have rasi, planets, tithi, week day,..... tithis are angular distance between sun and moon, we can also calculate the planet in a particular constellation, there are clear demarcation of rasis as 30 degrees each,.... But how to know, what day is today, is there any astronomical factors that say/denote that today is monday or sunday or .... Regards! This is applicable to most areas of the Earth for th exception of parts close to the North pole. There a Savana Dina may last buch more than 24 hours at times. Anyway, following the above system of observing the sunrise, the number of days was counted from the beginning fo creation, whereas the first day of creation was Sunday. Thus we always know what day it is. This number of days passed is called ahargana. Try to find this yourself as an exercise and then determine the number of days passed since the begining of Kali. Expunge multiples of seven (Why seven?
