Guest guest
Hi Jaan, Hare Rama Krsna. >are you saying that the real precessional movement is 40 seconds a >year roughly, instead of the current adopted 50 seconds? > >even though there is disagreement about the actual value of the >ayanasma, practically everyone has agreed that it is roughly 50 >seconds a year yes, I'm saying that the precessional movement is exactly 40 seconds a year, not roughly, but precisely. The question may be raised what do they actually base their calculations on to state that the yearly ayanamsa is " roughly " 50 seconds a year. Why it would fluctuate from year to year? Does the Earth turn quicker one year than the other? That would be ridiculous to presume, just like saying: oh, this year the days are longer, it's 24 hours and 10 minutes this year and next year it will be 24 hours and 5 minutes. No, in this cosmic clockwork created by God not a millisecond will change from year to year. Maybe our man-made measurement equipment may be fluctuating, because after all, it has imperfections, but never the cosmic creation. Even our atomic clocks, who are the most precise, sometimes may need adjustment for a millisecond, but the time never will fluctuate, do you agree? Let's take into consideration the difference between a day experienced on Earth and the sidereal day. The day is exactly 24 hours, the sidereal day is 23 hours 56 minutes. In the same way, the diameter of the precession has it's middlepoint 23 degrees 56 minutes from the poles. There is a difference of 4 minutes (day by day the lagna moves 4 minutes). And at the end of the year there will be a difference of 40 seconds in ayanamsa also. There are different ways to gain knowledge: (1) anumana: logic reasoning (2) pratyaksa: direct perception (3) sabda-pramana: accepting the statements from the revealed scriptures; among others, these are the most important ones. The most perfect of all is not to examine and experiment with our imperfect senses, but to accept the statements from holy scriptures, esp. the Vedic literature. We cannot call ourselves Vedic astrologers if we do not study first the Vedic scriptures, of which Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam are the foremost to study in relation to jyotish. Tomorrow I'll give some more quotes from the 5th canto of the Srimad-Bhagavatam related to this subject which clears up all doubts. The 5th canto gives a detailed description of the structure of the universe, the movements of Sun and other planets (even the naksatras are moving, which is caused by eternal time). E.g. the Sun moves counterclockwise in the universe, which is it's daily movement around Mount Meru, but clockwise as well, which is the yearly movement through the signs of the zodiac and here there is the ayanamsa, because the Sun moves influenced by a universal wind which goes counterclockwise and which moves all other stars and planets as well. You may tend to accept the theories which modern scientists have invented out of their creative minds, that the precession is the movement of Earth around it's axis, but Srimad-Bhagavatam gives a complete different picture.
