Guest guest
Dear Narasimha, Pranam. Jaya Jagannatha! >Kali yuga is supposed to have commenced in 3102 BC and the war is >supposed to have taken place 36 years before that. All this is >controversial, but the current accepted (?) date for Mahabharat war is >3138 BC. According to my latest calculations, this seems far too early for having been the actual date of the Great War. Srimad-Bhagavatam mentions that the kali-yuga started when the line from Kratu-Pulaha in the sign of Ursa Minor (correction: in my earlier message I had written Ursa Major, this should actually be Ursa Minor, the Saptarsi constellation) is connected with the star of Magha, and this about 50 years before the birth of Maharaja Pariksit (see the verses from 12th canto I posted earlier). After 1.200 years this line moves into Purvashadha (a second mistake I made in the previous texts: I confused Purvashadha with Purva Phalguni). Now when the line form these 2 stars is drawn north to south, we can go 2 directions. One direction points towards Magha, which is the start of the kali-yuga, the other direction will have been between Capricorn-Aquarius. The line also doesn't move clockwise as I mistook before, but counterclockwise (as ayanamsa goes counterclockwise). Then the next moving into Purvashadha is the other end of the line, and the time between is 1.200 years as the Srimad-bhagavatam explains. Now we have 2 ends, which represent one half of the line; if we were to calculate a full circumambulation, we should multiply by 2 = 2.400 years, but this means a distance of 33 degrees 20 min. so one rasi is indeed covered by 2.160 years and the full precession circle is 25.920 years, thus giving us a yearly ayanamsa of exactly 50 sec. (not as I wrote before, because I had confused the 2 naksatras). So considering this, I have a hard time accepting that the kali-yuga and the Battle of Kuruksetra can have been that long time ago. Look at where the ayanamsa has come now, it's in Pisces about 23 degrees depending what ayanamsa you're using. So the line between Kratu-Pulaha (the two upper stars of Ursa Minor) points to Gemini at about the same degrees backwards. That gives us 1 rasi and about 23 degrees, multiplying that by 2.160 years per rasi = about 3.300 years ago, or around 1.700 BC. There were subha-krit years in 1.277-8 BC and 1.337-8 BC (I have a book where it mentions two subha-krit years after each other on 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 our time). I got a quite close line-up of planets in 1.277 BC in month of Dec. using an astronomy program which calculates exact planetary positions up to 30.000 BC. Maybe? I'll have to do some more research for the other dates. Do you have any indications for Maharaja Pariksits birth? Or for Maharaja Nanda mentioned in the 12th canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam?
