There are two excellent scientific and groundbreaking books which will

probably answer your question. These books show that the Puranas are not

mere mythology and that modern scientific theories are not as scientific

as they claim to be. Reading these works will help you to develop even

more respect for the depth and glory of the Vedas and Puranas:

running side by side. This is all about the yugas as mentioned in our scriptures

and the scientific basis of catagorisation of the time periods after the

birth of earth and life on earth. In our scriptures, we have different

yugas which cycle after thousands of years such as :

The period of the dinosaurs, the period of man etc etc.... I

find it difficult to reconcile between the two concurrent beliefs (I still

don't know which is a fact), one from the scriptures and other from the

scientific discoveries. If there is evolution pattern from the early living

beings to the most advanced living being such as Man, where does, the classification

of the time based on Yuga fits in? Is it only mythological or there is
