Om Gurave Namah----Dear Balu,

Lagna is too weak. Do something about it. Recite the mantras of Mars and eat at least 3 times. Try to eat with the lights off and see if this helps you to eat more. Also do not eat too much of refrigerated food. For heavens sake I should read that weight as 70 Kgs soon..With Best Wishes,Sanjay Rath

Sanjayji and friends,

I am a new member to this group and is pleasantly surprised at the intense activity on this group. I for one do not have any background on astrology and stumbled on to this by pure curiosity and coincidence.

A little bit about myself: (I have attached .jhd file with my birth details.)

My name is Balu. I am 33 yrs, 6ft tall and 54 kg. (You read it correct - fifty four). Been sick most of my early childhood and has been diagnosed with some cardiac malfunctions. Did perfectly well in studies and is an Engineering graduate. Never followed up on my studies after my Btech (1989). Had a good job and changed into a better one in 1995 september. I ws more of an introvert and shy person till about 1994 and seemed to have changed a bit from then. Still not a party person. Was travelling extensively on account of the job since 1995 till feb 2001. I am currently in Singapore and taking a break from employment since Feb 2001. Parents both well and in the finance side. Father retired from a public sector company and partner in a finance firm now. Mother retired as manager of a bank. One elder sister married in 1988.

I am religious but never considered myself as a spiritual person except for some brief involvement during collage days(1985-1989).The purpose of taking up astrology is to broaden my view/ideas about life in general and possibily benefit everyone from it.

Some specific events as I remember

1. Feb 2 2001 - quit my recent job

2. Dec 12 1997 - Moved to Australia as part of the job.

3. Feb 6 1996 - Suffered from (possibly) TB. Was down for about a month. Not evena cold since then.

4. Sept 15 1995 - Changed jobs

5. Jan 1990 - Father undergone heart surgery

6. Dec 15 1989 - Joined my first Job

7. August 1989 - Got my first job offer.

I am not sure I am destined to do this, but will much appreciate if anyone could guide me in the right direction, where to start and more than that if I am a right person for this.

With warm regards

Balu. OM TAT SATArchive: varahamihiraFiles: varahamihiravarahamihira/database

Sanjayji and friends,

Sorry for being the cause of a little "net aggression". Not my intent to disturb the positive flow of communication.

Thank you for concerns and advice. But being a beginner to this could some one guide me to the mantra of Mars as mentioned by Sanjayji? Checked on the SJVC net and the links don't seem to be working.

Looking forward to learning more. And NO! I am not affected/bothered/influenced by adverse remarks. I hope that remark was meant for me and not for anybody else.

Hello Frank,

Thanks for your suggestions. I had picked up some of the information from earlier mails on this group. However, a little bit of delay in obtaining the books in Singapore. Arranged to get it from India.

At this point in time, as I am an absolute beginner, I am opting to be a silent observer till I get my basics right. But definitely any adivce will be much appreciated. Hope everyone will tolerate some very basic questions.

As about the Mangala Mantra, this is as per suggestion from Sanjay. It should be for Shanti only. I am not sure I fully understand the weakness in my Lagna at this point, but going to give it a try after I go through my basics.

Thanks once again

Dear Balu,

We have all learned, and continue to learn, by asking basic questions. When the basics are strong we can build solid structures therefore reviewing basics helps everyone.

Cheers...................Phyl

Sanjayji and friends,

Sorry for being the cause of a little "net aggression". Not my intent to disturb the positive flow of communication.

Thank you for concerns and advice. But being a beginner to this could some one guide me to the mantra of Mars as mentioned by Sanjayji? Checked on the SJVC net and the links don't seem to be working.

Looking forward to learning more. And NO! I am not affected/bothered/influenced by adverse remarks. I hope that remark was meant for me and not for anybody else.

Om Gurave Namah----Dear Jyotisha,

Sujit Kumar has just been expelled from this class for use of bad language.

Compassion for others is not for all to understand. I hope Balu has taken the message in the right spirit. He is welcome to discuss about his Lagna at any time. With Best Wishes,Sanjay Rath

Om Gurave Namah----Dear Gauranga,

Nobody is perfect in this Kali Yuga and my faith is in giving everybody a chance at least. If I cannot give others a chance to learn and share, how can I expect Bhagavan to give me a chance to share and learn. if in the process I am hurt, it is only the result of my Karma or perhaps another test of Jagannath. Do not let Saturn in the ninth deside what is right for you. Let the Sun dominate and then you will realise that there is more joy in giving as more knowledge comes your way also. One with a strong Surya is Karna Dani or one who can give away everything he has got. Now you can understand your chart better as the reaction was natural, but not perfect. If Prabhupada had decided not to allow drug addicts and others to recite the Mahamantra in his Kirtana etc, then where would you all be? Believe me when I say this.. do not hesitate for a moment also in giving ... not a moment. If in the process you are hurt, so be it.With Best Wishes,Sanjay Rath

Namaste All, regarding new members....

We are the keepers of this knowledge and also should be the advancers too...

In my humble opinion new people have intent and are drawn to learn this knowledge are welcomed to join .... I can understand "our" concern of allowing some individuals in with less then admirable intentions , or with some that have *poor choice* of words when expressing themselves.

In the end though, the teacher always gains more then the student.... If we can assist

one in ten and the other 9 do not stick to the course they choose, then that is fine, we

have done good for one and cannot do anything more about the other 9 but be gracious.

We have the responsibility to preserve and protect Jyotish Ved, but not at the expense ofbeing miserly or penurious with this great knowledge.

That's my thoughts...
