OHM SHRI RAGAVENDRAYA NAMAH

JAYA JAGANNATHA

Namaste friends,

I think many new students are inducted to our Gurukul and those who are accepted are fortunate.

As I understand from the mails of the new comers, some are already studied astrology and some are fresh. Here, I will give some hints for all.

1.Our Gurudeva Pt.Sanjay often tells that Bagavat Gita is the first book to be studied in Astrology. So, please spend atleast 15 minutes for reading Gita everyday.

2.Get Mr.Narasimha's book. Vedic Astrology - an integrated approach - read Part I .

3. Practice computation of charts manually. We are all Grateful for Narasimha for the JHL software. But, atleast we must practice ourselves to draw the charts manually in the beginning. We can draw first and then compare with JHL outcome.

4. Start reading Brihat Parasara Hora Sastram (BPHS).

5. We may be unable to understand, some of the terms used in BPHS or their application. For that you can read the mails in the archive of this Varahamira list. But, for those who find it difficult can go to the file section of Varahamihira and read the files, other than lessons. Some of the files contain the old mails compiled subjectwise.

6. Then you can attempt the lessons in the file section. But, in case if you are already familiar with BPHS, then you can attempt the lesson straight away.

7. While reading BPHS, you can refer to the related chapters in Jaimini Upadesa Sutra by Pt.Sanjay Rath.

8. Crux of Vedic Astrology - By Pt. Sanjay Rath can be read at any level and it is a great help for the students.

9. In most of the mails and these books we will come across, Narayana Dasa, a versatile dasa system. For the computation you can refer to the file in the name of Narayana Dasa in the file section. But, there are many more refined rules missing. So, to start with you can read and we will get the complete picture once our Gurudeva's book on Narayana dasa is released soon.

10. Whenever you have doubts, you are most welcome to ask any question in the list. There is no need of shy or hesitation.

11. If you do not get answers for your query or for your answers to the lessons, please do not get disappointed. It means our Gurus are busy.

Thanks

Your fellow student

Solai Kannan
