Looking only at the placement of Sukra, are we limiting our analysis of the situation?

1. What is the disposter of the sign ( Deha) and where is this Graha placed?

2. What is the qulaity of the mind and where id this karaka palced? e.g. what is the status of Chandra?

3. Who is the Nakshatra disposter (Jeeva) and where is this Graha place? to consider the life force here?

Lets then evaluate.

Namaste All, the discussion on Sukra is interesting.

I do not see Her as Malefic...

Gary has pointed out a few things about SukraCharaya that are of import in his last email, let me stand on his shoulders and point out a few things that ring true to me:

Characteristics of Sukra -

1. Passion - a good thing when you have a noble desire you want to fulfill. e.g. learning and mastering Jyotish knowledge with a passion...gives you focus and dedication.

2. Sukra - people opine that Sukra is another word for semen, and hence connect with sexual desire.Semen is a refined material ( i.e. from a chemistry perspective) that is produced by the body... but not the finest....the ultimate refined material is Ojas ( or Ojah) which enhances brain functioning and brings one the ability to be enlightened i.e. its the physiological part of Moksha. I will let Brandon discuss the Ayurvedic principles behind Ojas if he has a moment to to review.

3. If in fact the the 7th house is strong, semen is then strengthened and therefore Ojas conversion should be strengthened if a yogic approach to converting the material is adopted ( proper rest, meditation, japa, etc )

Lets not forget Sukra = Lakshmi.

Like any Graha good and not so good can come from their energy ( glance), So positioning Sukra as a hard linedMalefic ( which I know we are not doing) would do her an injustice .

Not as a hard lined malefic, but some are portraying the ruler of the Yajur Veda as morally deficient (I am exaggerating of course...)
