Guest guest
Namaste Anton, You have made some salient points..and they are appreciated. Regarding a few observations you have made: re: Sometimes a shishya is not ready to digest Knowledge, sometimes shishya looks aside and therefore answers on his questions will lead aside from Knowledge Yes, I must agree with you, but it is the role of the Guru to prepare and make a sisya ready. By no response, that does not move one forward. It will be good to communicate to the aspirant that the knowledge may be too advanced, or a few additional lessens are needed before the question being posed can addressed. But no response leaves one thinking on his own " Was my question not worthy of a response?" For those sincere in their question , they deserve communication, instruction ,or a message to wait and the knowledge will unfold. This, as I see it , and have experienced, is the role of the Guru. But my friend, when is a good time to ask the Guru? when it is on one's mind. If the Guru is Enlightened s/he will be able to move the the sisya forward in thinking.... Spending much time with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, he always answered the need being the question of the aspirant. He brought out the glory of Vedanta with each question, to uplift the aspirant and those listening. I was fortunate to be in his grace. There are so few years to this life, we must take advantage of each day to learn and advance our understanding as we move closer to Moksha... Or as Maharishi's Gurudev has said, if this is not done in this lifetime "We are selling pearls at the price of spinach" Thank you , for your response and the time you took to read my email. Pranam, ! Shanti, Shanti Shanti Frank in Austin , Fschmidt Anton Kuznetsov [tony] Saturday, September 01, 2001 9:54 AMvarahamihira ; varahamihira Subject: [Hare Rama Krishna] HearingOm Gurave NamahaPranam,... quoting a message of Frank in Austin to Varahamihira (AT) (DOT) Com ... Thank you for your message. FiA> I have noticed that many questions go unanswered as I view and write to FiA> the list regularly. Over time this minimizes one's effort and focus, FiA> knowing that some questions may or may not be answered I think it's all right because a Guru should not answer all questions of ashishya. Sometimes a shishya is not ready to digest Knowledge, sometimesshishya looks aside and therefore answers on his questions will lead asidefrom Knowledge. FiA> We also at times say we are busy with limited time.... yes I FiA> understand that and appreciate this constraint. Yet we are all busy, FiA> the universe is busy! You are right, but Guru's time is invaluable and so Guru should not wasteit. (For instance, a Guru can narrate dozens of times knowledge to shishyasbut he can write a book and then thousands of shishyas will get knowledge.) FiA> I other words, teach the sisya to fish, and avoid just giving them a FiA> fish when they are hungry. You are right but sometimes a shishya "likes a fish more than wants tofish"... I am ashamed to admit that I'm often busy and sometimes too lazyand would like to get all provided. So the cause is in shishya, not in Guru.
