Pranaam Sanjay,

remedy would you recommend for the native to reduce the suffering and

obstacles in life? [28 Sept 2001]

We did Satya Narayana vratam tonight - we do it on every Pournima. So I do

not have time to attempt all the exercises and I will address only Q1 (your

chart) for tonight.

Atma karaka is Saturn. He is in Virgo in navamsa. Mercury is alone in Leo in

navamsa. So the answer I am supposed to give is that Vishnu/Krishna is your

ishta devata and worshipping him will reduce the suffering and obstacles.

But I will take a different line and excuse me for any mistakes in it.

I know that Parasara talked about the 12th from AK in navamsa. But, is that

a thumbrule to be taken literally or are we supposed to understand the

meaning and adapt it?

Navamsa shows one's dharma. AK shows soul. The 12th from AK shows moksha

(liberation) of the soul. But, is that single factor analyzed in isolation

of all other factors sufficient to see the liberation of soul?

I humbly submit that we have to look at other factors. For example, Ketu is

the natural significator of moksha. Soul cannot get peace without his help!

All the trines from 12th (moksha trikonas) are important for seeing moksha.

Mercury in 12th from AK does show that Krishna's worship gives detachment to

the soul. As Mercury is in Leo in D-20 in the 4th house, he shows your grama

devata. Being in the 12th from AK in navamsa, he shows grama devata

(Krishna/Jagannatha) giving detachment to the soul. But where is the link

with Ketu?

I see Mars as a key planet in your navamsa (rather than Mercury). He is

lagna lord. He is with natural moksha karaka Ketu in the house of guidance

from AK. He owns the 8th from AK and has graha drishti on the 12th and 4th

from AK. In short, he is the only planet associated with Ketu and all the

three moksha trikonas from AK. Though we are supposed to see rasi drishti,

you clarified in another mail in another context that graha drishti gives

bhavishya yoga and cannot be ignored.

With Mars being the only planet associated with Ketu and all moksha trikonas

from AK, I humbly suggest that Mars shows the deity who will give complete

liberation to your soul. As long as you ignore that deity, suffering and

obstacles may not really go away. Mercury in the 12th from AK only gives

detachment/withdrawal and not complete moksha to the soul.

As Mars is in Vimsamsa lagna, his upasana is good on that count too. He is

GL and HL lord aspecting lagna and hence a maha yogada. His worship is good

on that count too. So, for most of your problems, worshipping a deity shown

by Mars is the best solution. Whether Mars shows Hanuman or Narasimha or

Subrahmanya is better judged by you than me.

I may be completely off here, but my attitude is to question thumbrules and

to generalize. How can just one factor decide things in isolation?

Your grateful sishya,

Narasimha
