Thats a nice thought and clear at that. Your research will help you a long

way. I was hoping someone would enter this area as none of the Guru's at

SJVC is very interested in this, except for Narasimha. This is how you

should proceed into Astakavarga. try answering these questions for yourself

again and again and then the knowledge will come.

1. Why is the name Astaka varga? Why asta i.e. eight and why Varga i.e.

division. What are the two systems of AV? Varahamihira and present day

Parasara's book in market (BPHS today)..compare and contrast. Bear in mind

that Varahamihira was very traditional and even upheld the Suklanta system

of nomenclature for the months as was taught by the ancients and is in total

contrast to what is happening in the world today.

2. Why the names Bindu and Rekha? Does this have anything to do with

Hinduism?

3. What happens when one planet/Lagna contributes to another planets AV in

certain houses? Is there a qualitative involvement.

4. What is the meaning of large bindu's in natal positions of planets in

their AV..is it good, and if so how?

5. What is the implication of contribution of one planet to the natal

position of another in the latter's AV? Why do planets contribute these dots

to certain specific houses from their positions (understand each position)

in others SAV?

6. What does SAV really mean? What are the specific remedies for low SAV and

why have these particular ones been prescribed?

Leaving you here for some serious brainstorming with Visti and Sarajit.

Sarajit is very busy doing a lot of work I have already assigned to him. He

is working on the next edition of the Jaimini Sutra. After it is completed,

this will not be touched for a century at least.

Update on my progress in Astrology

 

 

Pranam Gurudev,

 

I would Like to keep you updated on what I have been doing for the last

little while in terms of Astrology. I have been spending time learning

Ashtakavarga System. The reason I was doing readings on that was because of

the math involved and It really picked my curiosity another post of yours on

gjlist to someone you had mentioned about the free will and its link to the

upachaya houses and then you did not post more about it (all this is

involved in the predictions with this system). So based on what you have

been teaching I started co-relating and learning this method. I shall also

do Tajika this year as you have blessed me.

I have been reading your COVA and you have mentioned a lot about the

upachaya houses eg. in 7th house chapter, 6th house chapter and 10th house

chapter. What I am trying to explain is why I am trying to do some research

in this area. I also have been following the lessons at sjvc and posts at

vedic astrology and Varhamihira list. I have not been participating in the

Varhamihira list as you have mentioned us juniors to learn at sjvc group

which I am following but being selfish I did not want to devoid myself with

your posts and of the other gurus at Varhamihira.

 

Apart from that I have been doing a lot of brain storming with Visti as he

is on msn messenger and he too has been of a great help for helping me to

clear my fundamentals and giving me lots of food for thought. Occasionally

I also have chatted with Sarajit who also gives me lots of food for thought.

I had told him to convey my regards to you when he met you.

 

I still have a lot to learn, but I am not worried as I have your blessings.

With constant persistance and deligence I shall learn in time and help SJVC

and the digest with my inputs.

 

My aim is that some day I shall have enough knowledge to brain storm with

you right now I am learning with Visti who has been wonderful to me and he

is assisting me in thrashing out principles and philosophies.

 

I hope you do not mind me learning Ashtakavarga, and I do know that you have

made mentions of it in COVA. COVA is like my BPHS. I read every night

before I go to bed, hoping to learn something new every time I read it. In

the 10th house you have mentioned that low points in the Ashtakavarga can

make or mar a chart or make the chart very weak.

 

I hope that I have not offended you in anyway, that is always my worry.

Maybe it is because of the guru-chandala yoga that exists in my chart. It

is my limited knowlege and you have assured me that if that was a concern, I

would not be on the Varahamihira list or your student.
