Guest guest
Dear Prabhakaran, That's not right. Though most male names in Sanskrita end in " ah " , " ih " , " uh " etc, it is not necessary. Someone can have a halanta name like " soumyavaak " , " marut " , " viryavaan " etc. These three names, for example, have 3, 2 and 3 aksharas respectively. So, there is nothing like normal Sanskrit form. Names ending with consonants are possible. So converting " Brendan " to " Brendanah " is illogical. After all, neither Brendan nor Brendanah means anything in Sanskrit. Why should you prefer Brendanah to Brendan then, given that the latter's the name given to him? In any case, if Sanjay agrees that " Phyl " is one akshara/syllable and " Brendan " is two aksharas/syllables and proposes to convert them to " Phyla " and " Brendana " to make them end like Radha and Rama, then I will agree that " Phyla " is two aksharas and " Brendana " is 3 aksharas. Then the argument can be focussed on a different issue - why the names need to be changed. But Sanjay insists that Phyl itself is two syllables and Brendan itself is 3 syllables. We don't have an agreement in the most basic place.
