Namaste Sanjayji,

 

How are you? Snowed in under a lot of work? And feeling very alone

too, I guess! Don't we all know that feeling! But in your case you

know that your simhasana Guru shall prevail over the surrounding

sarpas, no matter what...for betterment of all of us. And, Guruji,

talking about Rahu and relationships, there are some unchanging ones

too in the world that never pall despite centuries of

association...like...

 

Maathaa Ramo mathpithaa Raamachandrah

Sarvaswam Ramachandro-me dayaalu

Naanyam jaane naiva jaane na jaane.

Talking about the lesson on phonemes, I did attempt it but halfway

through, a curious sense of futility gripped me and, please forgive

me, but I felt one with Adi Sankara saying that " nahi nahi rakshathi

dukrng karane...bhaja govindam " ..He alone symbolized by sound

is " akshara " . The syllabic format is all relative and

kshara...whether it be a vowel or a consonant. Anyway, the fact that

I studied phonetics and chandas seems absurdly irrelevant now!

 

Guruji, I am unable to write to the lists despite my best

efforts...there's this silence that's completely filled my heart and

mind. Obliterating everything else. This happens periodically with

me and it's curiously comforting. I am strangely reluctant to snap

out of it. It's as though I am hibernating in the very womb of the

Universe....learning & growing all the time in small indefinable

ways. It's my retreat.

 

Please bear with me till I emerge, and Sanjayji, I will not apologise

for the liberty I have taken with writing this letter. Do come back

to the lists. We all need you and miss you.

P.S: Notwithstanding my so called " silence " , I am in regular touch

with Shailesh and working for the conference. And am looking forward

very much to learning from you in person. Incidentally, my father was

in the ICU during the last week. He's better now, but still in the

hospital. Probably this also added to my vairagya.
