Guest guest
Dear Learned members, Can somebody shed light on the following question: hOrA sequence: ravi, shukra, buDha, chandra, shani, guru, mangala and repeat.. Why are days in this order sun, mon, tues.... (Mapped to) Why is the hOrA sequence is ravi shukra..., why not other sequence. I guessed this is somehow related to the planets order based on the distance from SUN, but this will fit onlyif swap ravi and chandra places in hora sequence <ravi, shukra, buDha, chandra, shani, guru, mangala> swap moon with sun Thus, <chandra, sukra, buDha, ravi, shani, guru, mangala> shift this sequence -- we get <shani, guru, mangala, chandra(Earth), sukra, budha, ravi> Is there any specific reason for this order Best Regards, Venkateswara Reddy - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup. Guest guest
om namah shivaaya ----------------- Dear Venkateshwara, The order of Horas is function of the *speed of the planets*. Try starting from Moon the fastest planet and write them down in circle in a clockwise sequence, we get: Moon -> Saturn Mercury Jupiter Venus Mars Sun So if you follow this circle picking any planet, you will get the Hora for the day ruled by that planet. As far as weekdays are concerned, I think this is obtained by alternating between Inner & Outer planets! The creation of weekdays is given in Shiva Purana, here is a brief extract: " At the beginning of the first creation, the omniscient merciful Lord Mahaadeva created different weekdays for the benefit of the entire world. Lord Mahadeva, the global physician, the omniscient, the panacea of all panaceas, made the first day his own day that bestows good health. Next he created Maaya(Illusion) the bestower of prosperity. Afterwards when the birth of Kumaara was attended with some mishaps he created the day for the sake of surmounting mishaps and idleness. With a desire to bless the worlds and for their nurture and protection he created the next day dedicated to MahaVishnu, the protector of the worlds. The next day created by the lord is for the sake of the longevity of th worlds dedicated to the creator of 3 worlds, Brahmaa, called aslo Parameshthin, who is the bestower of longevity too. Hence this day bestows longevity. The last 2 days of the weel created by the lord are those of Indra and Yama. In the beginning when the lord created PuNya and Paapa (Virtue & Sin) for making the 3 worlds flourish, those deities preside over them were assigned these last 2 days. The last 2 days are the bestower of worldly enjoyments and removers of premature death respectively. The lord made the Sun etc. who are His own manifestations and are firmly established in the solar cycle (JyotishaChakra)the lords of the different days. Their worship on their respective days accords the respective benefits viz. health, riches, removal of sickness, nourishment, longevity, enjoyment of pleasures and prevention of premature death respectively. It is said that respective merits of the different days are secured through the gratification of the gods. Shiva is the ultimate bestower of the fruits accruing from the worship of other gods as well. " Hope this helps. Guest guest
Dear Members, Since the order of planets did not come out graphically as I intended them to, I am adding a BMP file in the files section clearly depicting it as its size is 745KB.
