~om sri gurave namah~Dear Kasturi Rangan,Comments are given below:Best regards,Sanjay Rath----------------------Sri Jagannath Center, 71 Vasant Apartments, Mayur Vihar Phase-1, New Delhi 110091, Tel: 91-11-2713201, Web: http://.org http://srath.com rkrangan <rkrangan [rkrangan]Thursday, December 26, 2002 6:38 AMvarahamihira Subject: [sJC: Varahamihira] Mantra Logic-Here againOm Gurave Namah Om Namo Narayanaya ===================Dear Narasimha, Gurus and membersIn the prescription of mantras as remedies in these lists, I notice the term "energy" or "power" mentioned, as being drawn out of one house and diverted to another house.Pardon me if these questions sound silly. 1.How does one determine the quantum of energy in a house? For example, we may not be able to define quantitatively 5th house potential or "Purva Punyam". How does this energy transfer operate? [Rath:] The quantum of energy as well as the type of energy has various definitions called Bala or strength. Dik Bala is the power to guide or lead and gives leadership qualities and so on. Why can you not define qualitatively or quantitatively the energy? These can be calculated as per Parasara's methods and the quality is also defined based on the nature of the planet and sign. Just that is is a lengthy exercise. 2.If presence of a benefic or strong planet in a house is a determinant of power or energy, can recitation of mantras carefully chosen, relieve a house of afflictions. Lets consider a case where debilitation of a planet in say 10th (career) in D-1 does not seem so good and there are severe job/income (maya) related problems. Will recitation of a carefully chosen mantra alter the character of the debilitated planet or the sign involved that the problem is mitigated?Would not arudha padas be more valid candidates for remedial mantras for problems other than health or longevity?[Rath:] Yes, very much. That is what mantra is all about. All aspects of Jyotish are valid for remedial measures. Point is wha is the querist seeking. I may not seek the Arudha as much today as I did ten years back, and another ten years hence I would not be bothered at all. The queston is one of learning, age and desire. All have to be considered. The best way to control the Upapada for example, is by FASTING like the pious Brahmins while the best way to control the Satrupada A6 is by EATING like BHIMA!!! For example, I have Rahu in Satrupada in Gemini, and can eat items which are the favorite of RAHU during RAHU KALAM and destroy enemies..items like FISH!!! Now that is not good for my spirituality. So, I am a vegeaterian as the Spiritual requirement is more important than mundane pursuit of destruction of enemies. Maybe when I was younger I may have ndulged in such things as BALI and the deity would have been please with the offering of food and eaten my enemies, but then where do I stand spiritually after such activity? Instead, offering food to Durga on Wednesdays at Rahu Kalam would be more auspicious...in this manner the remedial measures have to be chosen taking into consideration DESHA, KALA & PATRA. As a jyotish of Sri Jagannath, never forget the spiritual direction.3.Can there be a drain of "energy" from one house?[Rath:] Yes. Energy is diverted from one house to another, from one activity to another. A person who reads books all the time or is spending al the time in the temple is not going to be fighting. The activity shall depend on the seat of the MANTRA DEVATA. The seat of the devata is the BAHYA of the two signs obtained by the words and akshara of the mantra. 4.Which house signifies recitation of mantra? The 2nd (speech), 4th (mind/mentally chant) or 5th (prayers)? Would not the recitation impact this house too? [Rath:] NINTH house. The eighth house is the house of spiritual practise and hence UPASANA is seen from the Vimsamsa (D-20 Chart as 20 = 12 + 8 i.e. 8th house in the second cycle). Karma or activity asociated with this is seen from the tenth house from it. The fifth house is the 10th house from the 8th house and rules BHAKTI which is the essence of spirituality. The second house (SPEECH) from the 8th house is the 9th house and this rules JAPA which is seen in the 9th house and leads to the creation of the BHAGYA and DHARMA. The fifth house or the FUTURE of the 8th house is the 12th house which rules meditation and Samadhi and also MOKSHA which is the future of all spiritual practise and study. 5.What is the purpose of Upachayas in relation to recitation of mantras?[Rath:] Every Bhava has its Upachaya or houses of Growth. Spirituality is seen in the 8th house ruling the occult. The Upachaya from the 8th house are the 10th house (3rd from 8th), Lagna (6th from 8th), 5th house (10th from 8th) and 6th house (11th from 8th). Thus the Mantra has the power to cause an immediate change in these houses. 10th house effect: There is nothing greater than the mantra to increase your name and fame as a truly spiritual person shall become famous due to the rashmi of the Brahma Jyoti emanating from the mantra devata. Lagna effect: He will become idealistic and shall have all curses removed besides excellent health due to the protection afforded by the kavacha of the mantra.5th house effect: He shall develop Bhakti for the mantra devata and have a bright future, increase punya etc.6th house effect: There is either and end to all enmity or too many enemies due to an incorrect mantra, misfortunes and other calamities due to a wrong mantra. THERE IS NO ENEMY GREATER THAN A WRONG MANTRA. Keeping this in view, please remember not to prescribe mantra indiscriminately without studying mantra shastra completely, lest you may end up creating more problems than solving them. Prasiddha mantra are the best followed by Siddha mantra. Be extremely careful with tantrik mantras. Please clarify.SincerelyR.
